Post 5

Moose }:8) BOYCOTTING ALL SMILEYS UNTIL YOU GIVE US A MOOSE!!!(the first to own a conceptual spork!!!)

hieroglyphs, obviously. the goa'uld are hardly going to write using our alphabet purely for my convenience.

Post 6

Smilodon

no, I mean that the Anchient Egyptians used 2 forms of writing. Heiroglyphs for temples and other important stuff, and another, less complicated-to-write version for letters and stocktaking and so-forth

Moose }:8) BOYCOTTING ALL SMILEYS UNTIL YOU GIVE US A MOOSE!!!(the first to own a conceptual spork!!!)

yeah...but the mother-ships are a fairly formal/ ornate affair, (they invite other system lords and so on, on board) so they'd probly write in hieroglyphs.

:-)

Post 8

Smilodon

Moose }:8) BOYCOTTING ALL SMILEYS UNTIL YOU GIVE US A MOOSE!!!(the first to own a conceptual spork!!!)

how the hell would they know how to read it? were they there? no-one can speak ancient eygptian!!! i know, the rosetta stone crap, but not all the hieroglyphs were on there, they just guessed the rest. they're lying...

:-)

Post 16

Smilodon

then how come the translations make sence?

:-)

Post 17

Moose }:8) BOYCOTTING ALL SMILEYS UNTIL YOU GIVE US A MOOSE!!!(the first to own a conceptual spork!!!)

they translated the symbols into CONVENIENT meanings, so that the stuff makes sense, but not neccessarily what the eygptians wanted it to say...

:-)

Post 18

Smilodon

so they might really be insulting us!

:-)

Post 19

Moose }:8) BOYCOTTING ALL SMILEYS UNTIL YOU GIVE US A MOOSE!!!(the first to own a conceptual spork!!!)

they could very well be.
"my cat's breath smells like cat food" may have been translated into :" then a plague of locusts descended on the farmland and all was bad in the city of light" or something equally inaccurate.
