Excellent, Dr Trout!
But you have to mention sherbet! The talcum powder is sherbet (icing sugar plus cream of tartar, tastes better than talc) and sherbet is the Turkish fruit drink.
The Turks like to put nuts into the lakhoum (pistachio is a favourite, or hazel). And they like to flavour it with rose water.

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho Posted Sep 17, 2002
Merhaba Dr T
One part of my first job after leaving school (apprentice sugar boiler) was making Turkish Delight - sadly the westernised, chocolate covered version rather than the authentic stuff
We flavoured it with attar - a volatile and very powerful oil distilled from rose petals, which I believe the red TD always should be, the yellow TD being flavoured with lemon oil.

I read it just to make sure you had the CS Lewis reference. Good job. Loooks ready foe PR in my opinion.

1) Flavourings. Yes. I am a halfwit for not expanding on it, especially the rose-oil stuff.
2) There is another semi-entry in H2G2 on making Turkish Delight which refers to rose-flavouring and I am trying not to step on its toes.
3) I am not sure I can live with the metaphoric(?) reference to Willy Wonka, because I didn't make it up. Some freelance jornalist called Tarquin Hall did (although I have reworked the wording and spelled it correctly ... but the seed of the idea is probably his). I am looking for him on the www to contact him to see if he has any problem with me borrowing it for the purpose of this project and will hold off PR until I'm happy that he's happy. Glad to get that off my chest.

Might be worth posting to the other researcher's message centre to see if they have any plans to submit their entry for review. On looking at it, it doesn't seem like the kind of thing which would be considered for the Edited Guide without a lot of work. Yours goes into the subject in much greater depth.

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Sep 18, 2002
Hi Dr Trout! This is a great entry and almost ready for Peer Review. I wouldn't worry about the other entry on Turkish Delight. It doesn't look like it is being prepared for Peer Review, and is about the chocolate-coated sort.
Your own article is good, but the Miscellaneous section looks out of place. Is there any way you could incorporate these facts into the main section? The Dickens reference would fit in where you mention Lumps of Delight in the main text. I'm sure you could find somewhere similar to put the Narnia reference.
Good work!

Thanks for all your good advice. This has gone to PR http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/F48874?thread=211279 (... during which time I undertake not to ignore your comment Gnomon.)

Looks like a good entry. I just have one niggling comment...
You have a footnote labeled "(Footnote: ...)". Why not make it a real footnote, with a tag?

Ah right thanks. Duh me.
The WW entry was in non ML. So I put that in as a reminder to convert to a footnote. See?
Dr Trout.
