They sounds like good suggestions. Though hopefully the Hobgoblin in Oxford is a little bigger than the one in Reading!

A little, although not much. But it does have large tables, but they tend to fill up very fast.
How many people are we looking at...

Fantastic! Better than Southampton (we managed about six, I think). it was a shame, actually, but there you go.
Very
Vip Posted Oct 23, 2002
True, true. But we had all dispersed by about six, as the pub was out of the question as most of us were under age, and I decided to go home (on a sunday) so I had to leave too. A good quiz by BB though, but we had to do it collectively, as we were all too dense to do it in teams!

Peregrin Posted Oct 24, 2002
BB showed me the quiz after that meet... it was... um... difficult. Possibly because the questions solely revolved around the Isle of Wight, with a bit of Doctor Who and the radio series of HHGTTG thrown in.
I could make a quiz so easy that everyone wins, if you like

The fireworks are this week? What kind of dumb council puts fireworks a week and a half before fireworks night??? I'm sure there'll be some others, Ændr don't suppose you could find out if there are others anywhere?
Oh and point taken about the Radcliffe it is a way out from the centre but I was viewing it from Jericho where my mate lives which isn't a long way so never mind. Right how about the following plan:
2pm : Meet at The Swan which is in George Square thingy next to the coach stations and things,
Sometime randomly between 3 and 4 : head to laser questing for howevere long laser questing takes (people who want to laser quest please sign up other there in that handily named thread)
Sometime between 5 and 6 we head to a pub which does food, possibly the Hobgoblin if someone can confirm it does food and they know where it is.
We then stay in the pub doing a quiz which will handily be supplied by peregrin as he volunteered (unless anyone else has a strong uurge to do so? ) before heading to fireworks which I'm sure there must be some of somewhere!

I've been trying to find some, but there doesn't look like a lot of luck. Even the Scouts in Kennington are having them at the wrong time. There's also a good chance I will be in Southampton for a big fireworks display the night before - not sure if I will get back in time for the meet.

errr - do you mean Gloucester Green (the street is George Street) and I don't remember a Swan in that area. There's the Goose (ex F&F pub) and The Old School.
If you are recommending a pub - please give directions to get to it for non-Oxford people.

If I have a strong urge to do the quiz then can I?
What about meeting at either The Old School or the Cock and Camel as both are very easy to find.

hmmm - it looks as if I may have to bow out and disappear to Southampton next weekend.

Ok, sorry about my muddledness, when I go to the pubs I tend not to think abuot where they are as I just go, I don't seem to be doing a particularly good job of organising this at all actually
Anyway, Pastey you can do the quiz of course, also if you would like to recommend either of those to pubs and can give good directions to them then we will meet there between 2 and 3pm on Saturday 2nd. I will phone the council and harrass them as there has to be some fireworks somewhere if not I apologise profusely!
Ændr which fireworks display in southampton are you going to as the main ones on saturday night? Also we'll be going up from Southampton on the Saturday so if you need a lift then we can help, course you'll have to put up with Peregrin snoring away in the car though

Right well you have til midnight tonight to decide between the 2 of you! (potentially midday tomorrow if no-one replies) Pick either the Kings Arms or the HobGoblin (my memories really poor at the moment so it may not have been that but you can pick between those 2) And will someone please sign up for the laserquesting in the laserquesting thread or else I won't be able to book it!
