After a reasonalbe start I have run out of steam for this entry. Would anyone like to point me towards further information? I would like to say something about the I/J thing in Latin but am having difficulty finding any valid information on it.
Liam.

The Roman alphabet used for spelling Latin had no letter J or U. The letter V was used for U as well as for V. Latin didn't have a J sound. Julius Caesar would have been written IVLIVS in Latin and would have been pronounced yoo-lee-us. The letter J started out just as a letter I with a fancy tail on it.
The English language had a sound which needed a letter so people started using the fancy I (J) for this sound and the simple I (I) for the normal vowel.

I'd like to take this one on if it goes to the Flea Market, since I already wrote "The Development of the Western Alphabet".

Having elvised and returned under a different guise how do I go about getting this one back - that is if Gnomon hasn't already staked his claim

I believe that since it is your entry, you can remove it from the Flea Market. Go to Writing-FleaMarket, find your entry on the list and click on the little X beside its name. Then it's yours to do what you will with.

I believe that Spankmunki no longer has access to the account he originally used to create the entry, so that approach won't be feasible. I think it'll be a matter of creating a new entry, cutting and pasting the content and GuideML from this one <./>test829136</.> into the new one and working on it from there.

In that case, just post a message in the Flea Market saying you're taking it back again, and then copy and paste as Wallace said.
