No not at all, it's not what you'd expect from a beer. Beer Geek Nation has a review I velieve(a video review). I know that bike & BBQ enthusiast from Georgia does a video review as well.

I'm assuming that you mean the Dogfish Head one is not what one would expect.
I must try it sometime soon, but certainly not tonight:
(here comes a sentence you're not going to read every day)
I have to drive out past Stony Plain first thing in the morning to pick up two 23 litre buckets of blood.

"I have to drive out past Stony Plain first thing in the morning to pick up two 23 litre buckets of blood."
brewing or sausage???

anhaga Posted Mar 15, 2011
sausage.
I'm not sure if you're aware, however, that bull's blood is a traditional fining (clarification) agent for red wine.

I have to confess that looking into a twenty-three litre bucket of blood just after the lid has been pulled off is strangely beautiful.

Hmm in the beer related news dept., Mark Suits in his ONTap blog posts about a Des Moines Iowa man attempting to pass/mark Lent the way Fransiscan monks did centuries ago. Just water & four glasses of Doppelbock a day.) The video link doesn't work but the blog link does.

i know what dopplebokk is, luvern, the makers of stella artois brought some out a couple of years ago 6.2% brown beer, very nice, only problem was divz were getting of their heads on it, it sort of slipped off the radar then, when they got behind the stella 4% lager, which was their pettermann astois just rebranded to look sexy and sell better

I've sometimes been tempted to try the five litres of beer a day allowance of mediaeval monks, but then I started this bloody odyssey of tasting every bloody micro-brewed beer in the city . . .
I think I've been doing the five litres a day for a few weeks now.

Amber's Sap Vampire Maple Lager, 5.3% ABV
The pour
A lovely reddish mahogany(clear reddish orange when held to the light). Rather slight carbonation. A finger of head, which dissipates reasonably quickly, leaving the standard-or at least anticipated-ring. Decent but very transitory lacing.
Aroma
Maple(distinct but not really overpowering sweetness)and subtle malt
Taste
Mapley sweetness initially-Amber's had toned this down a bit-then I detect a bit of malt mingling with the maple. Leading to a very clean finish.`I hadn't had one of these in quite awhile, certainly good to get back to it. Not really Too exceptional, but a well-brewed and flavourful beer. Definitely easy drinking, I'd eagerly accept another if offered.

I finally got around to trying Yellowhead again with an early dinner. I'll put your Sap Vampire and my Yellowhead in a little later.
Key: Complain about this post
