Hi all (er, anyone... )
this is quite a short one from my French revolution project. Just thought i'd bung it in, since it's short and praps not commonly known info.
any feedback gratefully received.

First comment: Are you absolutely sure you've got that table right?
Quite a neat, interesting entry, but because I'm first here I get to pick nits:
Could you tell us what the names of the new months meant? As well, I think it would make more sense to give the holidays in French with translation.

I've corrected a couple of typos and added provisional DIY translations of the months. Not sure how well that works, really.

What I meant was that you've labelled Jan, Feb etc as the republican calendar, when they're the traditional one.

Oh and I think it might look better if you move that column to the left hand side.

Ah, i see.
I only centred the table as an afterthought when you mentioned there was something wrong with it... no great importance there. I'll have another peek and probably put it back where it belongs.

No, you misunderstood again, I meant perhaps you should put the traditional calendar on the left. I'm not really sure though.
By the way, the names sound a lot more poetic in French, don't they?

what, you mean compared with my versions? I just ain't the poet that Fabre d'E was, eh?
I see what you mean about 'on the left'. I *did* actually wonder which way round was best. I spose you're right.
I mean left.
No, right was right.

all the names of the months in the Rep Cal are actually in Chambers, interestingly.
I'll *try* to give some thought to something a bit more poetic, but no promises.

Do it which way you want, it was just a suggestion.
By the way, should it be "Vendémiare" or "Vendémaire"?

Now I see why the revolution was doomed from its very beginning. It would have been different if they had proposed to rename Monday 'Sodit'

It also complicates studying the period, especially in French history books, as events are dated with the republican calendar if they occurred under it!
like several major coup d'etats!

ok, quick boost up the WW list before this quits the safety of the WW combat-training centre and enters the bloody fray in PR.
any more for any more?

Looks good to me - get it upstairs.
Be prepared to give some indication why Napoleon changed it back ... couldn't handle the 9 day on 1 day off thing?
Not tonight Josephine. It's no surprise now.
Go go gadget.

Not getting much reception in WW. Hence must be good enoug for PR. Go on give it a whirl.

Actually, Monty, it's not destined for PR at all, as it is part of my French Rev project.
btw, would you be interested in knocking together something for that project? Any contributions would be very welcome and I'm sure the project would be the better for it.
No pressure, honest!

I wish I knew more about it. The three Musketeers starring Ollie Reed, is as close as I get. Sorry. Strange that your Uni Project doesn't need to go through PR though. How does it get thoroughly vetted?
