This is one of my favourite places on the planet. I haven't been there for some years, but feel it deserves a spot in the Guide

Yes, very good entry Dr Trout.
If I was a Scout, I'd scratch my head wondering how I could improve it, decide it wasn't possible and then recommend it to a subbie.
Bravo.
Regards,
Monty

Not sure why no-one else has been in here - look, the poor fella's having a conversation with himself!
I like this entry. Perhaps a little too much bitty detail towards the end (not sure whether putting the entry prices up is really adding anything as they might be out of date in as little as six months' time) but lots of nice facts all presented in an enthusiastic style.
Just a tiny pointer - the opening section doesn't need to have the title repeated - that automatically appears at the top anyway, and likewise the 'introduction' tag - we kind of know it's the introduction because it appears first That way, you can swap the subheaders for headers to make it all a bit more impactful.
Anyone else care to comment?

Good show.
1. I will meddle with the ML for headers and stuff. That will test my credentials as editor material will it?
2. I will clear up the tariffs section. I started out with the intention of demonstrating that the Botswana government has a policy of exclusivity for non-citizens but encourages its own people to use its reserves. This ensures that the local people are not excluded by high prices, and therefore do not resent the existence of the reserves or the high-rollers who visit from overseas.
But then, browsing through the ML pages, I saw that I could learn to create a table, so I decided to give it a go.
Thanks for the input. I’ll start work on some more.

Jimster,
A point of order.
The following Edited Guide Entries contain explicit costs of goods and services:
A577055 gives explicit costs for stuff to do in York
A346330 gives costs of UK passports
A759602 provides a fair chart for taxi-rides in Cairo
Thus, I do not intend to remove my Tariff table, since it is consistent with Guide precedent.
I hope that this is acceptable.
Regards,
Trout

Yep, that's just a personal preference and not a requirement.

Just waiting for others to find this entry. I cannot understand why it's laid dormant for a week.

Perhaps if I change the title to
Confessions of a Park Warden.
Obviously I'll get panned for having a misleading title, but at least I'll pull the punters in.

Hi, Trout,
All I can suggest is putting Tags between the headers and the paragraphs, to open it up a little, and make it easier to read.
Other than that, it's a great article

(Er, we don't use tags like that generally. I wouldn't recommend doing that, especially as a sub will only have to remove them.)

I blame the lack of caffeine...
OK how about ...paragraph... tags?

Paragraph tags? There aren't any paragraph tags in Nxai Pan National Park. It is a wilderness area of immense beauty. Either you like what's written or you don't. Please let me know.

OK, sorry, I have to say, you've completely stumped me.
The article is great. Very well written. Well done!
My only suggestion (as earlier in this thread the fact that no one had come by to make any was being bemoaned) was to format it so that there are spaces between the header and the paragraph, to make it easier to read.
Other than that...
Good article.

Ello. I can't understand why this was dormant for a while. It's happened to a couple of my entries, Including one A697494 that I'd spent about 2 months agonising over, very frustrating. Anyway the only improvement I could suggest is to make it constance eith the English usage in the edited guide in the title it technically should be "Nxai pan National Park, region of Botswana, Botswana, but frankly that's nitpinking. Well done this is great.

Out of nowhere, a gust of hot desert air rushes in from the Namibian Kalahari, whipping up dust from the dry lifeless pan, and startling a small herd of Springbok grazing on the dry strawlike grass.
Then, as suddenly as it started, the wind drops. Once again, the pan is still.
Dead still.

Y'know, I think one reason why this has not attracted much attention may be that it's just something that no-one here except the writer really knows anything about.
I have a couple of style suggestions though to help us with it...
1) Change the s to s
2) Put ...... tags around all the paragraphs

All right. That should keep me busy for about five minutes.
The comment "I think one reason why this has not attracted much attention may be that it's just something that no-one here except the writer really knows anything about" is probably valid and highlights a not insignificant problem with the guide ...
