h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Just came home and google tells me my username/PW is wrong, I *know* it is right... I guess that was it, with me and google.

I have joined the google group but have not had chance to read through it yet. It may not be until next week before I do have time . However I am in support of saving hootoo.

Wow. I'm staggered how much you guys have done in the brief time since the announcement. More power to your elbows.

I think it's really important to have a reasonably viable member-led option available. I've been involved with a small football club which nearly went out of existence, and we found the presence of the supporters trust was useful even though we didn't end up buying the club - the new directors chose to work with us and made use of our ideas (plus it massively increased our own commitment to the club, which made it more viable as a business).

I can't really offer time to get involved with a rescue effort, but I really enjoyed my time as a member of the community all those years ago and I'd happily chip in a small amount of cash if the community consortium ends up being the only option.

Must just quickly register my support, and echo the comments about how much you've all done in a couple of days. I only wish I had some useful skills to contribute...

We already have a crew of tech-savvy people, so that side of things is reasonably well covered. The thing that we will always need is users! There's no point in having an h2g2 if there's nobody there.

Of course, anyone who has skills in tech, law, accounting, business and so on will be welcome too, but us mere users are important, especially further down the line.

Count me in!! (if anyone can think of anyway I can be of help other than logging in and participating more often...)

RL has been interfering with my hootoo time for the past couple of years, but I'd miss the place if it vanished in cyberspace.

Is there a plan to post a summary of ideas for review?

Is there a 'worst case' scenario mapped out?

Has anyone proposed the notion of a 'webring', as a form of distributed model for hosting content/fora?

Am I asking too many questions?

Having had so much out of h2g2 I have to put something back into it but lord knows what.

Another pair of hands and a keyboard.....

I can put my book on hold for a while........

After all, doing a little for the Guide persuaded me to start my book!
