A friend of mine told me that she'd been told when she was young that she was 'too young for vegetables'. This had the effect of making veggies something exotic and exciting, so when she reached her sixth birthday and was told she was old enough to have greens she was thrilled and never had any problems with eating these 'luxurious' foodstuffs.

Whereas I grew up fussy. Only through sheer determination in the last few years have I started eating greens.

Another friend convinced me to eat carrots by boiling them in orange juice to give them a sweeter flavour.

Just two ideas for how to get children to eat properly.

It might be a good idea to give a rough idea of what age you can try these tips. I think I gave my son a spoon at about 9 months. I hated feeding him (goes back to childhood - long story), and couldn't wait for him to be able to do it himself.

just a thought:

when you mention chocking etc. it would be nice to mention either what to do if the chid does actually choke, or link to a emergancy first aid site taht explains it.

nice entry

*giggles* no apology needed... you should have seen how many mistakes my word spellchecker found in that lot before I posted it!

And think my next thing might have to be a chocking article for here because I've had to hunt elsewhere for a link.... ahh well... can't have everything here just yet LOL
