A781094 - Talleyrand -- Priest, Statesman and Diplomat
And Introducing... A Leg Posted Oct 4, 2002
Okay, my job has got really hectic again after the nice summer lull, so I don't have much time at the moment, but I've got a *hopefully* quiet weekend shift tomorrow, which I'll spend putting links in. Then it's off to Peer Review, hopefully!

Uni entries don't go to Peer Review!

I tell you what, guys, I've got a friend to re-read some stuff for me who i'll be talking to next week but I'm keen to get back on the French Rev case and get it done and dusted.
If you want to hit PR for your own purposes, Leg, feel free. I don't believe there's anything about pieces that are already in the EG being unusable in a project. It'll just be doubly 'official', .
In the meantime, I'll try to start getting some material that I consider finished into your in-tray, Bels. Whaddaya say?
I am feeling all inspired and stuff, coz I saw the Depardieu 'Danton' last night. Cool film centring on the fall of the big man. (no, Danton, not the incorruptible, )
Scenes of debates in the Convention, the CSP in the flesh, machinations and rhetoric, Fouquier-Tinville and the notorious Tribunal Revolutionnaire and finally the guillotine. La Terreur, quoi! really good film, relatively young Depardieu and an excellent performance from the man playing Robespierre. particularly winning over the deputies in the convention when they disapproved of the arrest Danton, the great hero of the people and the revolution. Turned the situation by sheer will and oratorical skill. masterful.

Okay, not to peer review. (Next time I'll bother reading the background about uni projects, especially as I'm thinking about doing one of my own).

Well, I notice there's room for an entry on the 1791 Constitution. If I can dig out the copy of it I received a couple of years ago (and that's a big if), then I'll set about turning it into an entry. If not I'll probably have a go anyway. I remember finding it very interesting.

Yes, I envisage some info on all the different constitutions, from the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen, through the various others and particularly including the never instituted Year I constitution.
See what you can find on your one, and we'll compare notes.

Found it!
It's a bit abridged, but the book it's in has also got the Declaration, and part of the Civil Constitution of the Clergy. Other stuff, too. Very useful. I'll read through it tonite.

Depends. Depends what it is and how much. I don't really want anything too bitty. I'd prefer a large wodge that I can get into and make some sense of in my little brain. That would also help to unify the style. I don't know whether these entries are chronological, or topic-based. Whether they're stand-alone or interdependent.
I don't know nuffink yet.
I think it's a bit like going into Peer Review - the project should be, as far as you are concerned, finished, I think, before the sub is let loose on it.
But if you are stuck on something and need some advice on style or subbing or something - I'll do my best to help.

Hi A Leg, and Z,
fraid i never did get the French Revolution all sorted. I've actually got nearly enough material to produce quite a good project, but found it very difficult to know how best to divide it up into individual entries.
This piece by A Leg works as a perfickly valid stand-alone entry, imo.
i'd love to say i'm gonna get the project sorted soon, but... well, i already said that last October, and it ain't dun yet!
*waves to Bels* Hi Bels - never did avail myself of your subbing services for this...
maybe one day,
