Post Team Posted Jul 4, 2002
I did straight away and I thought it a very clever allegory.
With you two girls joining the writing team I have so much more to look forward to every week.
Titania, don't forget to order your graphic for your archives - Kate - yours looks great doesn't it? Greebo is a very talented cat!

Kate, Titania, welcome to the Post's group of fiction writers! Your stories are both excellent indeed, and I look foward immensely to reading more of them.
Keep up the good work!!

What was H2G2 like before it came under BBC control? I only came in afterwards, but I've heard people bemoaning the change. What changes have they made?
Nice story!
Monsignore Pizzafunghi Bosselese Posted Jul 4, 2002
I enjoyed it very much! It wasn't obvious from the beginning, but then, which place on which planet has Musehomes and Thingites?
Mr. Legion, in the good old days, http://www.h2g2.com (the link still works, but gets redirected) was a dot com powered by a little ad banner (right where the Peer Review banner is now) and, featuring a staff of half a dozen or so, there was _no_ _moderation_. It was left upon researchers to behave and in case they didn't, someone else would complain, the offensive posting would get **** out and that was it.
Nice story!
MaW Posted Jul 4, 2002
Well, actually, there are a few more changes than that... yes, so there was no moderation, but stuff did get removed if people complained, and most of the same rules on content posting were in place. However, because we didn't have moderators, there was no language restriction, which is one of the biggest things which is bad about the BBC running the site.
Of course, had they not stepped in, there'd be no h2g2 at all... the BBC have provided some enormously big servers to run all the DNA sites on, and indeed the money required to pay Jim and the other programmers to develop the DNA engine itself. And for meetups. Don't forget the meetups!
Anyone remember the one before the BBC took over when we had to buy our own drinks?
Nice story!
FABT - new venture A815654 Angel spoiler page Posted Jul 5, 2002
loved the story,
almost brought a tear to my eye!
actually, it made me think how like h2g2 living in university halls was. we all had literal message boards on our doors and left messages when people were out and sleeping. had whole conversations that way......and of course, like h2g2 anyone could read anyone's conversation
creepy
Nice story!

And the moral of the story is: A Rolling Stone needs to know when to quit touring.
Very nice, and I'm a little surprised it didn't start with 'It was a dark and stormy night...'
Key: Complain about this post
