Zarquon's Singing Fish!

Hi Mark,

There are a couple of entries in h2g2 which you might like to look at. You can't link to anything that's not edited, however the entry on Asperger's Syndrome is - see <./>A592148</.>.

Archangel Galaxy Babe has done an unedited entry on Autism Awareness Year 2002 - <./>A759242,/.> and will no doubt be keenly interested in this entry. You may want to talk to her.

As far as this entry is concerned, you will either have to take out the first person stuff, or put it as a blockquote (I don't think you're using GuideML, however a Sub-Editor could do this for you - just indicate the start and end of it) as Edited Entries have to be in the third person.

Good luck!

The link between diet and health is a fascinating one. I did an entry on Candida control, <./>A694541</.>, in which diet is one of the factors and cutting out foods containing yeast if one of them. I note that yeast and several of the problem foods in this entry appear to be factors in autism as well.

As systemic candida (where the yeast overgrowth is in the stomach, meaning that food is improperly ingested), do you think it points to something similar in mildly autistic children?

An interesting and useful entry.

There's a discussion here F19585?thread=188007 about this same issue in older children and you might see if there is anything you can use. My own sugestions for the causes are in #9 and are similar to the ones you suggest. Too long to re post here I listed things like: poor nutrition (especially the fatty acids in evening primrose and fish oils), lack of sleep, lack of imaginative play etc. There are links to research too.

I've always maintained that the "terrible two's" are nothing compared to the 6-7 year old horrors and I warn friends about it too. Of course, cognitive psychologists have always recognised that this is the age when children move into a different stage or way of representing the world.

The simplest way is to go to a conversation where you know they've posted and to click on their names. This will bring up their home pages. Then post under their main bit and tell them, quoting the A number.

If you copy this link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/AddThread?inreplyto=2160040, then they can post direct to the conversation and get to see the entry.

Blues Shark - For people who like this sort of thing, then this is just the sort of thing they'll like

Did someone mention my name?smiley - smiley
Speak of the smiley - devilsmiley - shark, and he will appear. smiley - winkeye

Yeah, this is much better.smiley - ok
I think confining the 'case study' in the way you have works well, and I'm glad that the 'experiment' is working for you.smiley - biggrin
As far as the edited Guide goes, I think this is much more suitable.
Good Luck.

h2g2 auto-messages

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.

Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
