SIG, though no mention (as usual ) of Mike Mercury and Supercar or Four Feather Falls.
Oh well, perhaps not the main concern.
Superb stuff, you two. Brought back a lot of happy memories. Perhaps I should start working on the idea that the dvd's would make an ideal present for J.

maybe some day someone will write an enormous entry on all of Gorgeous Gerry's works-including the Kooky Wonderful 'Secret Service'-it can blow your brains out! (something like what happened to
Captain Brown-)
"Dear BBC-please stop putting Scarlet and the boys off for sporting events-or I'll have to cry"

"due to expectations of what pullets should look like"
I was almost too chicken to point out this typo...
Also, the more realistic proportions of the "Scarlet" puppets was due to an advance in the technology - the solenoid which activated the lip movements was buried in the head of the Thunderbirds characters, leading to the "topheavy" appearance. Later, more powerful solenoids meant that they could be mounted in the *body*, allowing the head to be more in proportion. How sad is it that I know this stuff?

sad? Sad? SAD?
whaddya mean?
did you know that it uses the same amount of brain cells to store information on tv shows
as the same ammount of info on splitting the atom?
no-I made that up.

That's true about the solenoids, but my understanding was it was a bit more chicken-and-egg than that. According to Anderson's biography, he wanted to get away from the big-head puppets and Captain Scarlet was the first time he was able to thanks to the technological advances you mention.
And you're not sad - Fan Pride!*
Jims
* Can you imagine the annual Fan Pride parades? 2000 people marching on the capital in Starfleet and Thunderbirds uniforms and Cybersuits...

Also a Fetish Club. (Named after a book by Sader-Masoch, the man who bought you Venus in Furs.)

What has happened to the link to the BBC Cult site that Jimster mentioned in the other thread?
This one http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/anderson/scarlet/index.shtml
Or do Related BBC links get put in later?

BBC Links usually go in at the end, but in this case, I just forgot to put that one in - thanks for the reminder!

Yes, it does bring back memories, especially of the theme tune. So that's why they were less expressive than the previous shows!
Either I didn't know, or have forgotten the beginnings, but the bit about a mistaken attack on them seems to have passed me by, so it's good to know this.

Something we haven't mentioned in the entry but is true nonetheless... Captain Scarlet *is* a Mysteron; the real Captain Scarlet's corpse is lying next to Captain Brown's, not far from the wreckage of their patrol car that the Mysterons made crash. It's something the series glosses over, but that man with the Cary Grant voice is NOT Captain Scarlet!

A good, great-to-read article!
Just a couple of points:
There seens to be a stray bracket by "episode 2".
I would also include links in references to:
Stingray: A536519
and perhaps even TV Puppets: A206470

(Pssst. Hey, Primord, d'ya think people know this entry is still unpicked? Maybe they haven't heard about that new rule, whereby anyone who's left in Peer Review unpicked for more that a fortnight wins a gazillian pounds, a new car and a box of chocolate frogs. Don't let on - I'm holding out for a Ford Prefect!)
