If I wasnt an ass at least sometimes, (a little) My wife wouldnt like me as much, though she loves it when I am sweet it turns her on when I sometimes think only for myself, or dont consider her... other times it pisses her off, and sometimes she dosnt see my side.... COMMUNICATION IS KEY!!!!
Oh thanks for trying to make me feel better, I lost respect for the girl, but still she didnt want to have sex with the guy, he pesterd her until she did, and then he dragged her off into the woods to do the deed, more or less, It is considered rape if you have sex with someone under the influance who comes out afterward and says she didnt want to, or if she says it beforehand too... EVEN if it is your wife...

Question--how old was this girl?
It sounds like she was old enough to be responsible for her own decisions. She could have just stopped talking to the guy, right? Or left the party with a friend? Or stayed in the crowd?
There is a growing amount of sentiment that "date rape" as it's called is actually too easy to prosecute, because guys have had their reputations ruined by women who decided the next day that they didn't want to be held responsible for their actions (in my opinion, alcohol is no excuse, and this comes from someone who wrecked a car and lost his license as a result of driving drunk), so the next day they yell "rape" and play the victim, while the guy is left scratching his forehead about what he did wrong. Which is often nothing.
I'll probably get flamed like crazy for this, but I believe in personal responsibility. And I believe that actions speak louder than words. A girl who says "no" and walks into the woods with a guy is not sufficiently supporting her words with action. A girl who says "no" and lets him take her clothes off is not sending a clear message that she doesn't want to do it. She is rewarding his persistence and determination. And I can't respect a guy who does things like that, but I won't call him a rapist. Jerk, yes. Rapist, no.

well said...although there is a fine line, that is hard to judge, and you have to be sympathetic

I agree with you, if you can't control yourself under the influence don't get drunk, it's as simple as that.

8th grader? You've got to be kidding! What is a kid that age doing at a drinking party? Where were the parents? I thought you were talking about someone ready to graduate high school and go into college, not from junior high into high school!
If ANYONE was bing irresponsible, it was this girl's guardians. NOT the other kids (like you) at the party.
When I hear stories like this it really makes me sad. Kids getting into crap like that...grrrrr...

Well her dad ran out on her mom and her mom was extreamly poor and tending to her younger sisters, In North Idaho a party has to be like that, it can be boring to kids if they dont, well anyway, I am not making any sence here, but there is NOTHING for kids to do besides go to parties, or camping, which camping often includes (even with parents) drinking, or smoking, which makes it a party, I am sure there are other things to do, but people are lazy so there you have it... there were a bunch of kids at my elementery school (my younger brother's 6th grade year) who got busted for having alcohol, cigarettes and pot in the forest on school property (oh the things that went on in that forest, I can only imagine what goes on now!

T'is the way of life I'm afraid, you will always find the generation below you incomprehensible!

I find the world incomprehensible. It drives a man to drink. But a man of legal adult age, in my case. Maybe those kids are just ahead of their time...

It matters not. Take it to heart and enjoy the beauty of small things. Like Helvetica.

Actually, to understand the origin of the compliment click on the "this posting is a reply to" link, but otherwise, I meant it to be available to all.
My mind's not that great, really.
Hmm.
