Thanks smiley - biggrin
It was actually part of an essay for my school course work, but I'll definitely be adding more to it when I get the time.
Glad you liked it!

By the way, where is Thanet? I asked Amy P and them, but no one had a clue... "Maybe an island off the coast of England" was what I got... *grin*

It *USED* to be a little island off the coast of England, but isn't any more. It is only about three towns wide, right on the very end of Kent on the coast, very near to France. Near Canterburry, If you know where that is.
smiley - biggrin
I live in the town where Charles Dickens kind of lived for a little while!

It's quite funny; the once majestic River Stour that the Romans would have had to cross to get to Canterburry is actually a muddy ditch.
And yes, Dickens. We celebrate a 'Dickens Week' down here once a year. For the tourists more than anything. I suppose it's kinda funny to watch people dress up in very dodgy Victorian costume *laugh*

You can't honestly say that your village/town/city/state doesn't do something quirky. Or should I move away from here as fast as possible<?>

There's two in the summer, plus carnivals and water galas.

Hey now, my town was founded absolutely *no more* than 100 years ago... Not much history here. We're even pretty early, because we had a railroad.... Heh heh. And where I live, native America is pretty much eschewed.... smiley - sadface Probably because we're city. *shrug*

Some places do Native American things... But mostly those are on the Indian reservations... for the tourists..... smiley - winkeye

Yeah... You get more tourists in quaint little European island towns.... smiley - winkeye (quaint alright smiley - winkeye) See, if someone wants to go see New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington DC -- they are all almost completely the same. Well, Washington happens to be extra-clean, but that's just because it's the capital......... There's not much difference there.

Now, on (in? which preposition?) Thanet, I'm sure everything is quite different from elsewhere in England, France, the rest of the Europe.... smiley - smiley Besides, you've got fun themed weeks.... I'll have to come visit sometime smiley - winkeye.

Been to Blackpool<?> Thanet is just a smaller version, with less shops, virtually no evening entertainment and a very naff little theme park. *shrug* With only slightly better weather smiley - biggrin

In the big Amercan cities, I think people mainly go for the signature buildings [the whitehouse, ground zero, Hollywood in general....].

And I *will* get round to adding more to this article. I promise.

Heh heh... Nope, actually, never been in England... Or Europe.. Or even to Mexico, although I don't particularly want to go there. It's sorta a choice between depressingly poor and then fake, unrepresentative tourist areas in Mexico... And knowing that this really isn't Mexico, if I was in an expensive American tourist zone, or just seeing how Mexico really is -- those would both bother me. So I stick to Canada and the US, and hope I someday make enough money to fly across the ocean. smiley - winkeye
