Ah... kindred spirits....Lovely!
And Ornamnoid... I just KNEW I'd find someone to invite me to be a member of the Pudding Club (although, with my 2 lads nearly ready to fly the nest, would it be OK if we dispensed with the pudding-y bit and got on with just deserts? Anyone who rates Sam Vimes is alright with me!)
Thank you for your invite, I shall whizzle accross and find out what PUDDING is really all about once I've had breakfast.
Isn't Dennis Miller the playwrite who writes really boring, intense and above all HEAVY plays? I think he did the controversial Son of Man back in the 1960s/70s.
If we're going to have a patron saint, it should be someone who's erudite and vulger as well as being intelligent - how about Johnny Speight?

Madman, I couldn't post in the form on the ranters page either. I did find some instructions that may (or may not) be useful A1911773 I have saved my rant for posting later.
Evadne Cake, have you read Nanny Ogg's cookbook?
Screams of rage, terror, anxiety, etc.

Ormondroyd.. my apologies for getting your name mis spelt. I make no excuses- I'm Dyslexic.. and unless a word is familiar to me I have real real probs with it.
Now... this is not too much of a problem because once I've read used or writted an unfamiliar word a few times, I can remember it.
Until it comes to names.
And as I get older, I become more aware of it, too.
as as for the contributor who signs him/her/self with an ... I've read your page, I love the reasen you've called yourself your name, and.. apart from it beginning with a T I cannot for the life of me eith "see" spell or pronounce it.... yet!!!!
Would that be worth a bit of a scream, would you think?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRHHHH

Glad you like my page, Evadne Cake. I'm a her, by the way. Don't worry too much about the pronunciation of my name. (Though it's as good a reason as any for a big scream.) I'm not sure how to pronounce Evadne. I say my name Tara-lo-me, but you can pronounce it any way you like, It's not like I'm gonna hear you.
I use the to sign off, because Táralómë is supposed to be an elvish name. Whether it is or not, I really don't know.
Screams of rage, terror, anxiety, etc.
Moving On Posted May 27, 2005
Mine's pronounced "Eee -Vad-Knee" but you can call me Jill for short if you like. Its much easier. And saves virtual ink too.
It isn't so much the pronounciation its "seeing" the letters for me. Now you've told me how its pronounced in RL I'll be able to spell it in a couple more entries. I guessed it was a bit elvish in origins
That wasn't a particually big scream, really, just a bit of an enraged roar of miffment because I don't explain Dyslexia terribly well!
Screams of rage, terror, anxiety, etc.
Researcher 198131 Posted May 27, 2005
Not your fault for not explaining it well. I know what dyslexia is and should've realised what you meant. Sorry. I never thought about it, but I guess Táralómë would be a real pain for dyslexics.
Thanks, Jill, you can just call me Elf or for short
Do you find some of Terry Pratchett's character's names difficult? I do, and I'm not dyslexic. Especialy some of the names in Pyramids!
Screams of rage, terror, anxiety, etc.
Moving On Posted May 27, 2005
Cheers
Yeah... I s'pose I do, to start with (and yes, ESPECIALLY in Pyramids!) In cases like that I just think "Oh... blanket unpronouncables and get on with the plot. If a name continually crops up (and I go by the Shape of the letters here) then I eventually figure out that I'd better find out who he/she/it IS.....
I do it all so automatically, I don't really *think* about it, any more - I've always done it, and, until I began writing shorthand in perfect mirror image at the age of 17 or so, and was thus sussed as Dyslexic!
(Mind you, it was a bit late by then... I'd already done and passed my GCEs!)
Going back to Pratchett charactor's names... I think they're brill, tho. The combinations are fab - Mayonnaisse Quirk, for example. Or Bernardo Prout.... sheer genius!
Screams of rage, terror, anxiety, etc.
Researcher 198131 Posted May 28, 2005
Wow, writing mirror image shorthand! Sounds very Da Vinci-ish
I can't even write shorthand the right way around. I wish I'd learnt but they stopped teaching by the time I was at school. Luckily I can type fairly fast.
Sometimes I just gloss over character names, I'll just recognise it's the same name then keep going. Usually I'll make an effort to figure out how they're pronounced. I think some authors make up difficult names on purpose.
I agree with Pratchett's character names. I love Munstrum Ridcully. It seems to describe his character as well.
Opps, seems we've hi-jacked the Screams thread. Better chuck another one in for good measure.
