Thought not. Ho hum. I'll talk to myself then. Nothing new there....

I'm a fellow owner of 'Eeyore's Little Book of Gloom', but also of another little book called 'Life Stinks: A Wry Look at Hopelessness, Despair and Disaster' (ISBN 0836231147). It's full of inspiring thoughts such as the following:

"Success and failure are both difficult to endure. Along with success come drugs, divorce, fornication, bullying, travel, medication, depression, neurosis, and suicide. With failure comes failure."
(Joseph Heller)

Okay, here we go.

1. Neighbours from Hell, with their unrelenting loud music of a type we wouldn't listen to if we had the choice, and a bass beat that keeps us up half the night.

2. Ineffectual council officials who are supposed to help with this kind of thing, but who don't have a clue and don't care anyway.

3. Drunk people fighting outside our house late at night, breaking bottles and vomiting in our garden, pissing up against our wall, having sex outside our front door, and smashing/stealing our belongings.

4. My partner and I are sociable people with no social life, on account of our long-term illness (CFS). We can only go ouWe have so got to move house.t in the evening if we drug ourselves up to the eyeballs on painkillers, which is no way to live. So our friends have gradually drifted away.

5. We'd like to have children, but can't, because we are both too ill to look after them. Most of the time, we're too ill even for a sex life, so it's pretty academic.

6. I lost a job I loved because I became too ill to do it. My staff behaved as though they believed I was faking it, even when I was desperately exhausted and in pain. It was incredibly demoralising.

7. I've been waiting since March for my Housing Benefit, and it still hasn't come through. To make ends meet, I have been selling some of our belongings, for depressingly small amounts of money.

8. My father promised to visit me in the last Week of May, but he forgot, and spent his week off at home instead.

9. My mother is in denial about the existence of my disability, and cannot understand why I can't travel 200 miles to see her. It's always inconvenient for her to visit me, she says, because I live so far away; yet when she met an attractive man up my way last year, she visited him most weekends.

10. I can't leave the house without somebody calling me stupid names or giving me hassle because of the way I dress and move. All attempts to blend in fail miserably: people still seem to think I look eccentric.

There. So now I feel frustrated, angry, stressed, desperate, rejected, depressed, bitter, lonely and antisocial. smiley - wah And grumpy, of course. smiley - grr

Sorry about number 4. I guess the house-moving comment got pasted in by accident. I'm sure you get the idea, though.

Thanks, people. I've had a better day today. Now I'm just grumpy.smiley - erm

This morning, I picked my way past the pools of Saturday night vomit along the street, and sat in the sun away from the neighbours and their radio. For once, nobody called me any names, and three people actually smiled at me. One guy even stopped to talk. So that was nice.

Then some lad spat a huge gob of phlegm over me from a passing car smiley - grr, so I'm back at home now, drowning out the neighbours with my own music.

The moment we find a new house, we're outta here!

Well hopefully that will be soon.

Until then, remember that the general friendliness of practically everyone on hootoo can drown out the feelings created by the various brainless beings you encounter in RL. And don't ever think it's your fault they're being that way. It's all down to their lack of human emotion and hopefully one day someone or something even more horrid will drop on them from a great height. Until that day, keep your chin up smiley - biggrin

(PS I'm a nice person and don't mean to be horrible or wish bad things on people, but sometimes we have to stand up to mindless idiots who mess up others' lives)

Whatever happened to the smiley - love of the common people? You certainly have more to be grumpy about than most of us, Snailrind, but I too sometimes feel that I'm better off with the very uncommon life-forms here on hootoo. smiley - aliensmilesmiley - hug

I hope you get your move soon. In the meantime, I'm glad to see that you're not letting the smiley - bleeps get you down for long. And here's some virtual smiley - ale and smiley - crisps.
