This one is more or less allegorical. I was trying to find a surrogate subject for personal fury about the American depiction of Deepwater Horizon. They sh*t on their own doorstep, and have the temerity to blame us.

I have read that, yes. A terrible thing.

It's a good way of telling it. You want to scream and shout about it. But that wouldn't be heard other than by the already converted.

Munch and Bacon could paint it. Perhaps poetry's the only way in words to yell and still be heard.

That would great. I spent a lot of time a few years back looking at Popes on the internet - then was unexpectedly staring at a real one just 6 feet away at the gallery in Aberdeen. It was a spine-tingling moment.
