can i just say that i personally think that your attitude is wrong and your argument if feeble. i am a dog owner, i am responsible, and its people like you who are anti-dog, which mean that not only will my dog not approach men but it ispetrified of anyone it doesnt know. it thinks that people are going to hit it everytime they raise their arms and is so nervous that she cannot be let off her lead. her previous owners bought her and decided that they didnt like dogs. they beat her and kicked her. she is petrified of loud noises because her previous owners had an air gun. november is a nightmare for her. she would never go up to anyone that she did know and would never 'annoy' anyone. ME THINKS YOU GENERALISE TOO MUCH.
i have also had cats, they are beautiful loverly animals. i love them, but nothing would ever persuade me to give up my dog, or not to get another one after her.

I love dogs and have found them to be more caring and "people oriented" than cats. Cats are rather aloof in my experience and dogs love you, regardless. I love my dogs and would never put a cat above them. You can seek professional help regarding your dislike...

Can I just point out that I actually like dogs? They're just too over the top for me. And people haven't beaten out the little self respect that cats have out of them...

I think that's why people have cats. Dogs usually offer complete and total adoration while cats... sneer at you.

My cat doesn't sneer. She's too dense. She barely knows what's going on as it is. Please don't ever say she's aloof- you'd be utterly and totally wrong. When I'm at home she sleeps on the end of my bed every night, and when I wsa little and upset she'd come up to see me and purr, and lick my face. Now she's going senile though... the lights are on, but the residents have died. It makes me sad to see her limping around with nothing going on in there. My cat's too thick to be aloof.

My cousins' cat once ran into their sitting room, bit me behind the ear, and ran out again. I still have the scars.
My parents' dogs, on the other hand, ranging from Josh the Sloughi (quite big), to Pogo the Japanese Chin (smaller than most cats) have never acted aggressively towards any of their hundreds of friends, relatives and pupils - except once, when Josh snapped at a little boy who - watched by his mother - was trying to take food out of Josh's food bowl. He didn't actually bite him.
And it is bad when cats eat wild food as opposed to tinned, in a town at any rate: predators need fairly large territories, or the wildlife populations can't keep up.
That doesn't imply any wrongdoing on the part of a cat that's killed a bird, it just means that there are too many domestic cats around for the ecology.

I've seen the entire thread and I'm surprised how prejudiced people are. Atheists like me do not de-evangelise people or blow people up with bombs. It is also the owners fault if they don't house-train their dogs. My 70 pound Golden doodle Was Taught To Use The Litter box. I'm sure all the dog hating people would stay buried in an avalanche without dogs.
Ok I've finished ranting.
Sorry if I offended anyone but I had to get that out of my system.
