Why Do They Put Manholes In The Middle Of The Lane

Well that one had a happy ending, ending up in the bar and not wrapped round one
All you can do on cattle grids is just go straight across without steering, accelerating or braking.
Unlike manholes I can see the need for cattle grids in the road as for whether they could be made safer for bikers it's obvious that they could be.

Speaking of cattle grids. Have you ever been caught up in a herd of cows 
? you can tell that they know where bike gear comes from!!
