Yes, and I'll give you a sample!

So pleased to see a mention of 'What's Opera Doc?' in your entry. Any piece about Chuck, Bugs, Elmer, or Warner Bros. cartoons wouldn't be complete without it smiley - biggrin

Indeed. Sorry I've not spotted this for a couple of days-I'm not subscribed to the piece itself, just the peer review column.smiley - silly
I'm glad you enjoyed the piece anyway. 'What's Opera Doc?' has long been my favourite Bugs, though my favourite Chuck Jones is probably 'Duck Dodgers in the 241/2 Century.' Marvin Rules!

Really, as much of that award for 'What's Opera Doc?' belongs to Carl Stallings score (after Wagner!smiley - laugh) and Mel Blanc.

There are so many good ones - what's that one where Bugs pretends to be Leopold Stokowski and gets the tenor to sing a never ending note that brings down The Hollywood Bowl?

Funny how Chuck Jones failed so miserably with Tom and Jerry smiley - erm

The Hollywood Bowl rings a bell, and I would suspect has Daffy in as well.

I watched one of Tom and Jerry's the other day. It struck me that what he actually did was make a further set of Coyote and Road Runner cartoons. Just didn't work with those characters. He rarely discusses them in his books, so I'd guess he wasn't very proud of them either...

No, Daffy wasn't in it. It starts off with the tenor in his home, practicing, and Bugs is outside with a banjo singing some godawful song that keeps putting the tenor off. There are two or three scenarios where the tenor goes out and smashes Bugs' instrument, whereupon of course, Bugs comes back with another. After the final attack on his music, I think Bugs utters the famous phrase "Of course you know this means war" smiley - biggrin That's when the action switches to The Hollywood Bowl. Bugs walks up to the podium in a long tail coat, with everyone around whispering "Leopold!" Then the fun really starts smiley - laugh

I think it's called 'Hair-Brained Hair' - I found a cd at work this morning with most of the dialogue and music from the film... and left it there instead of bringing it home smiley - online2long

Of course, that should be 'Hair-brained Hare' smiley - blush

Anyways, it's pretty much the way I recalled it - the tenor is in his home practicing, whilst Bugs is leaning against a boulder singing and playing a banjo. When the tenor finds that he's starting to sing the same song as Bugs, he walks up to him and busts his banjo then walks away, whereupon Bugs says "Hmm, music hater." Same thing happens again, this time Bugs says "Rabbit hater too."

I won't go any further, I'm sure you'll get to see it again. It's one of the best.

Strangely enough I saw this a matter of days ago in the company of a seven year old. We both laughed like drains.
Great stuff-as well as Duck Dodgers AND 'What's Opera Doc.'
I think it must have been the Bugs and daffy movie or something similar.

smiley - ok

I finally got around to buying that cd I mentioned, and although I know I brought it home, I can't find the damn thing anywhere smiley - cross I think the cartoon was called 'Long-haired Hair' rather than 'Hare-brained Hare'.

We all have our crosses to bear-mine is a very sick and virus'd up pc. Hopefully it will be being cleaned tomorrow before I throw it out the window.smiley - steam
Long Haired hare would make more sense as Stokowski's hair was his most prominent feature.
