I think it has to be, I was so swept away by it - and I was so scared I would hate it!

Best Picture Memento
It would have been Amelie but as Memento wasn't nominated elsewhere (best script of the year surely - though which year, i saw it mid 2000). Best film i saw this year was Blackboards though.

Sorry but they have done real justice to the books and it is just a jaw-droppingly good movie.

3) servants abounding
4) 1920' outfits in Victorian setting
5) house on the moors
6) puzzling murder
7) crooked detective
