The Male Hairdresser Name Phenomenon

Bit new to all this so bear with me. Not sure if anyone has already answered this.
One reason for the names is that there make be quite a number of Johns or Richards etc in the one salon. The new person would then be expected to change their names. Another reason, and I know this to be the case with Peter Mark in Dublin, is that there could be two people setting up the business. Peter and Mark of Peter Mark fame are two guys who set up a very successful business in Ireland. It is one of the best salons around. In fact, I have had to change stylists so many times in London because they leave the salon and do not say where they are going, that I now encorporate my hair-do into my regular visits to Dublin.

Hi Zuffy, thanks for calling by Fascinating insight into Peter-Mark - thank you. Because it is such a worldwide phenomenon it defies logical explanation. I remain genuinely puzzled about it
