What about the Edinburgh Dungeons?
It's recently had a re-vamp and is meant to be fantastic.
Think they do group discounts. Not sure if you can book in advance but easy enough to phone & find out.

Meant to be fantastic? I thought their adverts made it look totally terrible, but if someone has word of mouth support for it, then its an idea at least

It was the Star Wars link - it went down for a few hours.

Bit late as always. Ho hum...
DD and I went to the dungeon with Mina a few weekends ago. It wasnt too bad, but not as good as the London one IMO. But if people want to go, I wouldnt say it was absolutely awful...
Dynamic Earth is fabbie. Loved it. But then it is in keeping with what I do like...
Hum. As lots of people are coming we could take over a tour bus? That could be rather interesting...
Maybe meeting up would be better near the station? Then we can all get together first before moving elsewhere?
Dont know. Feel free to shout me down.

Meeting near the station would certainly make sense for people who are unlucky enough not live in the jewel of scotlands crown I suppose.
there are even people coming from glasgow
And yeah, dynamic earth is pretty cool, and is right next to holyrood park, which has nice flat green bit, and of course arthurs seat...
and even better agian, the Holyrood Tavern is just up the hill, one of the finest public houses in Edinburgh in my less than humble opinion

Arthurs Seat just isnt the same since walking up it at midnight on Hogmanay! Though, I'm not sure if Mina would cope!
Glasgow you say? You sure??? Didnt they build a wall to stop that sort of thing????

Don't talk about Glasgow like that! Some of my best friends have been near Glasgow.
I like the idea of taking over a tour bus, does it involve guns? Or is that hijacking?

Well I dont know how the glaswegians do things, but here in edinburgh we just sorta stick an arm out at the bus, and it slows down for us and everything..

Any further forward on a descision on where to go? I like the Dynamic Earth idea, it's really good there. And the tour bus would be a laugh. I've always wanted to go on one of them! Bags I sitting on the very front seat at the top of the bus, if we do it!

Ok, a few more details on tour buses added to page. Whatever we do, it looks like we are meeting at or near Waverley. Now, assuming we go to the Holyrood Tavern in the evening, can someone suggest a place to meet up in the morning?
Actually, one place does come to mind, the place we met in last August. Anyone remember the name. Or there is a Wetherspoons (the Standing Order - hmmm, another ex-bank perchance?) reasonably close by (62-66 George St). Any other thoughts on this?

Standing Order is a pretty good choice actually- good , and of course its absolutely huge, so 10000 h2g2 researchers would completely freak them out, but anything around 20-30 they could take in their stride. Anyone checked what else is happening that day? If there is a big sporting event on of some kind then that could effect our choice of pub....
I will be able to investigate things to do a bit more soon btw - dissertation hand in date and presentation is.... pretty soon, what was the day again, oh yeah, tomorrow
Once I have that out the way I will just have my exams to concern me, and so i will have time to be a bitmore useful interms of thinking what we might do.. Might even polish up the SRG logo
Well, tomorrow is very soon now, so I should dash, see youse later

Ok, revised the proposed schedule. We have a pub to meet up in, and a pub to finish in. Now we just need to figure out the bit in the middle and we're laughing.

Maybe it'll just be like the last time we tried to organise things with a visit to the GSC... Ended up starting in one pub, then immediately after that, travelling to the pub we ended up in...
