Oh Harvey had one picked out for you 2 hours ago then RL work got in the way!
What was it now? Oh he can't remember how about a couple american's
Pearl Jam - "Jeremy" vs. "(Sitti' on) The Dock of the Bay" - Otis Redding
Thanks for participating!

Hooray! No contest, Pearl Jam really, really suck and Otis Redding was a god. Therefore (Sittin' on)The Dock of the Bay wins hands down as one of my favourite songs ever. (and for getting sampled so magnificently by the mighty De La Soul)

Here's a couple more American's for you!
"Papa's Got a Brand New Bag" - James Brown vs. ""Walk on the Wild Side" - Lou Reed
Thanks again for your help!

Now that's a hard one..... Big funky Soul or Mr Lou Reed himself? I think I'm going to have to go with my roots, and pick Lou Reed because he's a velvet. Though that was a real hard decision to make (if it had been Get on the Good Foot it would have been harder though )

Yeah Harvey thought more people would know "Papa's bag"!
The Velvet Underground/Lou Reed are fantastic so it's still a great choice!
Thanks again!

How old are you? Do you know Janis and Buddy Holly music?
Want to try "Piece of my heart" vs. "Peggy Sue"?

I'm only 24, but my record collection goes all the way back to Robert Johnson (unless you include the classical stuff I got) go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A652457 for more of my record collecting waffle.
and again a hard one, loved Buddy Holly since I was old enough to hear stuff. But Janis, what a ing voice! That song's in my top 5 covers that beat the s**t out of the original, so Janis it is.

Looks like Harvey picked the right researcher for that one!
(I do love Holly as well but would have chosen "Rave On" for the tourney)
Thanks again!

Hey Plas ready for round 2?
Wanna try "Love is the drug" by Roxy Music vs. "Get up, stand up" by Bob Marley
Thanks for playing along!

Round 2 must go to the man with the coolest and shiniest suits in pop music history. Roxy Music have it for being smoother (and my terrible memories of parties where doped up students tried to tell me how Marley was a prophet while they tried to grow dreads and pretend they weren't white middle class kids from Surrey)
Bryan Ferry gets my vote every time!

I'm shocked as Roxy keeps devastating higher ranked opponents!
One of my all time favorite concerts was their 1981 tour!
(tho "Song for Europe" is my fav not "drug")
Thanks again want to try another as round 2 is moving briskly along!
