Harvey, the 6 Foot Tall Invisible Rabbit’s "Rock Era" Songs Tournament
Created | Updated Feb 28, 2002
(This tournament is meant for FUN only. So come along with that frame of mind.)
Harvey is my good friend. He loves music and decided to share his enjoyment with all of you at h2g2. He has selected some of his favorite songs and arranged them in seeds (like in a tennis tournament). So when one of the songs is chosen over the song it is matched up with - it advances to the next rounds opponent.
The songs will compete by having an h2g2 researcher select between the two. The researcher will request a match-up within the discussion thread at this page or will be invited by Harvey through me (elwood) in another forum to join us here and select between an ASSIGNED match-up. The songs you will be deciding between will be chosen for you by Harvey, then you choose your favorite and it moves on in the tournament! Until only one is standing!!!
(I’ve already chosen my favorite to win it all, do you have any guesses?)
I hope everyone has a great time!!!

HARVEY'S ROCK ERA SONG CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH!!!
HARVEY'S ROCK ERA SONG CHAMPION!!!
The winner of the first “Harvey’s Rock Era Song Tournament” is...
the once and future “King of Rock and Roll”
Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock”
Uh, huh...uh, huh...thank ooo, thank ooo very mush!
The people that chose Elvis tended to remember him for his roll in helping shape Rock and Roll into what it is today. Focusing on his early and influencial years. The cool years. When he was an innovator, merging many musical styles together including country, gospel and blues into this new hybrid.
The people who voted agains’t him, seemed to point to when he became a ‘product’ that was cranking out one ridiculous film after another with music not up to his earlier standards. Then his sad later years when he seemed to be anesthetizing himself, with medication and food, to what had become of a incredible musical legacy.
I would like to call to mind the film footage of “Jailhouse Rock” (if you're lucky enough to have seen it - a precursor to today’s videos) that proves time and again that Elvis is COOL and the KING!
The warden threw a party in the county jail. The prison band was there and they began to wail ...
Enough said!
Thank you to everyone who participated and made this endevour the fun project I hope it was for all! (it was for me at least)
