Gnomon - time to move on

It's bunkum. Multi-million dollar bunkum.

There isn't always a rational explanation for everything, but that's because we're not very good at explaining things yet.

I'm absolutely in your camp Gnomon, I do NOT believe in ghosts. However, years ago I stayed in an old house in North Wales.

The people we were staying with were the retainers of the property, whilst the owners were abroad. Our friends were allowed visitors, but we were not allowed to use the owners' bedrooms - and so were given a bed settee in the library.

My husband and I settled down for the night, and just as I was nearly asleep I suddenly jumped out of my skin, for there was a red-haired old man staring down at my face, with a look of utter surprise on his face. Well, of course I put on the lights again and checked everywhere - presuming it was a sort of dream I tried to go back to sleep.

In the morning, our hosts asked if we slept ok, and I told them about the dream. They didn't seem at all surprised, but took us back into the library, and showed me a very old etching, in an obscure corner ( which I hadn't looked at the night before) It showed the original owner of the library - and the face was that of the old man that had woken me. When I said he had red hair, they confirmed this, but of course the etching was just black and white. Apparently the old man was a regular inhabitant - but our friends didn't want to spook us by telling us in advance.

Now - I *really* do not believe in ghosts - and I honestly had not seen the etching before I went to sleep - so how come I 'dreamt' this old chap's face and red hair?

Ooh, Lanza this is like something from 'Tales of the Unexpected'. Stories such as yours - from avowed sceptics such as yourself - have the effect of making the hairs stand up on the back of my neck! smiley - ghost

Good afternoon everyone,I will try and explain my experience of a sighting,so here goes. The club that I go to for a drink has always being known to be haunted, the building itself must be well over 100 years old,it must be about five years ago,I and a friend were standing by the bar upstairs chatting to chris, who was serving the drinks, next thing we heard someone,s footsteps coming up the stairs, now you have to imagine the layout,at the top of the stairs there,s a short corridor, then the door which leads into the room, now at the time the door made distinct noise when someone opened it,I and my friend, and chris the barmaid distinctly saw a man,approx,.60 years old, well dressed, wearing a trilby hat, pass the entrance to the bar, then we heard the door opening and then....nothing! nobody came in and nobody went back down the stairs, chris was really shaken by it,Ill never forget it.On another occations I and a number of other members have heard someone whistling in the gent,s toilet downstairs.
