A Conversation for Talking Point: Male vs Female Driving Skills
Teenage boys are the worst, which is why I didn't drive until I was 30

In my state the vast majority of tragic auto accidents
(often, but not always, connected with alcohol consumption)
are caused by male teenage drivers. At least, that's
the kind of accident that gets written up in the newspapers
and broadcast on the nightly news shows.
I do remember one such accident that involved a teenage
girl who had been a straight-A student, had not touched
a drop of alcohol, and had an excellent driving instructor
sitting next to her (both were killed). Go figure.
I scraped the entire side of my father's car against
a tree on the way home from church one Sunday because
I didn't slow down enough approaching the entrance to the
driveway. I gave up driving for seven years, got a license,
and then waited five more years before buying a car.
I have been crashed into three times, all involving
female drivers. But I remember that incident with the
tree from my teen years, and conclude that the teenage
males probably skew things away from the ratings for
*all* men.
