"Medical Commentary - We have received a number of emails from medical experts who refute a lot of what Quincy has posted to h2g2. Therefore, irrespective of whether this account is being operated against our rules, we are concerned that Quincy may have been posting medical misinformation to h2g2, and without any proof of his identity, this is not something we are willing to allow to continue."
E-mails from medical experts? Who qualifies as that and more importatly in the light of this case, did they proove their qualifications? Saying the Q didn't prove his and accepting circumstancial evidence from un-proven experts would be a unwise move, IMO.
I'm not contesting your decisiosn, I'd just like a clarification of that little point.

Good point Tube, as someone who started a conversation about the anti-depressant I was on, I would be interested in hearing a bit more as well.

Yep, they proved their qualifications to our satisfaction by providing us with details of their registrations with the relevant boards (one person was registered with the UK's General Medical Council, and another with a US state Pathology Certification Board). We checked up these references and were satisfied that they were speaking the truth.
Their advice and analysis was also completely professional, and showed an obvious concern about people giving online medical advice while refusing to prove their identity. Obviously the communications are confidential, but the difference between their approach and that of Quincy was very plain to see.

Out of curiosity - how long would you estimate it took you and them to satisfy you of their ID and qualifications? It might be relevant for the soapbox discussions, I reckon...

Not long - an email from each of them with the details, an email from us to the relevant people, and a response within a day or so from them.
Pretty simple, really, but then we had no reason to be suspicious of them in the first place...
