SWL and all that!

Hi Shee,
just thought I`d drop by to say you are the first person on h2g2 that I`ve seen even mention Radio!! I am not licensed, but many years ago, when CB was illegal, and all the better for it, I used to operate on 27megs Side-band. Made many friends all over the world, and thoroughly enjoyed it!
Then it became legal in the UK, and became the playground of idiots.
So that was it, I finished !!
Other things occupied me then, although I did prepare for the license,
only to start a new job away from home, which stopped any further progress in that line
I`m happy nowadays just listening in, and have done for many years.
Are you very active? I cuold perhaps listen out for you , if I knew when and where to look !!

Actually, I'm not very active on the lowbands... Which is probably where you'd hear me. smiley - smiley I do Field Day down on worldwide frequencies, and not much else. Mostly I use 220 MHz, 2 meters, or 440 MHz... They don't travel very far... smiley - winkeye

*wonders*
It was illegal, but you operated? Excuse me, I can't recall: are you American or British?--that makes a difference smiley - erm...

Glad to hear from you again!--it's been a couple months, neh? smiley - wow

As you say, I wouldn`t hear you on those freqs, with me being in the middle of the UK!!
Quite a few of us operated illegally in those days, and were pretty much left alone by the authorities, unless of course there was any complaints, re inteference or whatever. It all changed when CB was legalised, but on FM. That was the kiss of death!!
Take care!
