The trouble with mine is that I keep thinking of more information to put in it... It's now far too big to go into the guide in one single entry and I've nowhere near finished... I suspect it's either going to get split up into seperate entries or I'll end up with a university project without even trying for it

I've written a Morse Code entry that you may want to link to.. A719390. It still needs a lot of work on phrasing (), but I think I'll put it into Peer Review with my Amateur Radio entry and your Radiowave entry... Actually, I've got a question that you may or may not be able to answer.. If I was to put the Amateur Radio entry into PR and made a note on the thread that your entry was coming along (and/or in PR), would I be able to keep my link to you?
Thanks.

Hey, how about joining forces here and putting the whole lot forward as a University project on Radios,
I'll write an intro, we split my entry up into seperate sections, add your radio ham and morse entries, (which has just saved me some work as I was going to do the same thing) and add an entry on Q Codes (which I was going to do anyway) add any more entries we can think of (and can actually gather enough enthousiasm to write) and I think we've just about got it covered....
what do you think?
(PS, for links, it gets a little complicated, if they were all to go into PR at the same time the chances are that the links would go through, the trouble is that an edited entry can not link to an unedited entry and when the entry is picked by the scouts the entry is copied and the Axxxxxx number is changed... but I'm sure we could find someway of getting round that..

I think this is crazy.. But it may work. (I've updated the Morse entry, by the way.. I think it reads a lot better now. ) Hmm...
If we were to make this a UP, we'd probably need an entry on CB, which I know very, *very* little about... The first problem I see is that my entry is on *American* amateur radio, and I think that expanding it to cover all the countries in Europe and big countries in Asia (like Russia, China, and Japan--I'm including Japan because it is big on radio manufacturing, in case that sounded kind of odd ) would make the entry too long... They each have different license classes and contests, among other things.
So I don't know... It sounds good, but there is a lot to do. We'd have to recruit at least some other people to help... Actually, Lurcher might... Or might not. *shrug*
The first problem I see is how many people we've got: 2. The second is how much time I've got: not much. But if we can get over those... This might work. I really don't know... Do you think it is a good idea? I went around advertising "Ham Radio" on my name for a while, and I got about 2 responses... One from you, another from Lurcher, who I met in my first weeks here... That was it. So I don't know how many people would be interested.
+ CB
+ other countries' ham radio
+ Q-signals

Don't worry too much about time, we don't have to stick to the 6 week deadline that's suggested (I think Abi has had a project on the go for over two years now!!)
If we propose it as a university project and its accepted, we might get more people interested, but yet again, that's not really a problem, I've seen UPs written by a single author.
As to other entries...
CB - the ideal thing would be to get someone to write a piece on the culture behind CBs, however, if that failed I could always knock together a piece covering the bare facts.
Other countries Ham radio...
You seem to have covered enough to give people the general idea of what a radio ham is. IMO all that's really needed is a short piece on licence requirements in the uk (this being the BBC after all!), a brief overview of Ham in other countries and a few links to world organisations... ok, if someone volunteers a piece on the culture in their country it would be good, but we could probably live without it
Q - Codes
Lets face it, after a brief explanation of what they are and who uses them, that's just a case of typing out the list... I should be able to look after that.
Oh, and I also thought of another one, callsigns... which would have to include the basic international callsign allocation, to which I could add the breakdown of types of callsigns used in the UK (the types of callsigns allocated to the various users) as well as the Russian federation - Ex-USSR (as long as I can avoid breaching any security regulations). If you could add the US versions, we'd have enough info...
I think my entry, split up, just about covers the theory, I was thinking about adding a para on transmission types, morse, fsk, voice, data, etc. but that shouldn't take me too long...
I tell you what, I'll try to put together an full idea of what we've already got, what we really need and what would be nice to include over the weekend... if you have any more ideas, just give me a shout.

*laugh* Oh, poor Lurcher....
I wish I had the list of things that I was trying to link to with my first entry... I went through and came up with a bunch of things that it would be nice to link to, and almost none of them had entries. I suppose I could do that again, just to see what might be good to write up still....

Certainly alright. I just sat down and reread what I wrote on Morse Code, and it got me to thinking about this ... and well, *grin* I was just wondering. Hee hee, you poor man with too much to do!
