Thanks for the plug, Bel 
You know, even though it was a long and arduous journey home, we feel quite proud that we were experiencing the disruption first hand - something to tell the grandkids.
I really appreciated the texts and comments as I went, and I was able to return the favour when Stuart Maconie was making his long journey back from Venice, using 5 different trains. He's a great Twitterer, and was able to share the odd interesting picture along the way. And luckily he's also a travel writer, so he may even get a new book out of it!
