I think you will find he said

'The latest issue of PC Pro has an advert for Microsoft Visio2000 (I don't remember hearing about MS buying Visio, but then, why would I care?) in the form of a bookmark, with the bit of string stuck to the spine of the magazine. Naturally, the bookmark is placed in the magazing where their actual advert is.

So, in honour of this mildly annoying advert (I'm sure the product is still as bad as it always was) here's my list of the most annoying advertising to be found in magazines.

Perfume inserts - does *anyone* appreciate these? I want my magazine to smell of paper and ink, not Calvin Klein's 'Stench'

Adverts with fake PostIt notes attached. "Hey Bob! Check out this company. They're really on the ball!"

Real PostIt notes as adverts. Radio Times has occasionally carried ads which were printed on PostIt notes affixed to the contents page of the magazine.

The loose inserts that always clutter up every magazine. If I ran a magazine shop, I'd have waste bins at the bottom of each shelf so customers can simply shake out their magazine. American magazines are the worst, because they put those annoying subscription cards in several places throughout the magazine *as well as* having one fixed inside. Which brings me to

Card inserts bound in to the magazine, which make it impossible to flip through the magazine. It always stops at the insert (their whole purpose, I presume) making casual reading very difficult. Even tearing these out leaves their residue, which prevents flipping. '

So the answer would be bookmarks and perfume inserts?

If that was a direct quote from his Holiness, which I'll take your word for it that it is, then I reckon you've won the prezzie.
