Proverbs 21:9
Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.

Very apposite, NAITA. The Bible's always been a good source for a mysogenist quote....

Wouldn't call that misogenist though. It's true.
Paul's letters on the other hand, that's misogeny for you.

Hello, I'm Alex Chaser, U186807
I would like you to meet my chair.
Its name is Anastasia.
The Voices perched on it (looking strangely like cats) are Veaimo and Bob. They like to argue over exactly what color Anastasia is. Pay no attention to them, they only get hungry at midnight.

And I'm Pattern-chaser; Hi Alex! You sound like just the sort of sane and normal individual we like to welcome into our ranks! I think you may have to define your chair with a little more clarity, if GTB is to extract anything vaguely comprehensible for our home page.
"Alex and her Chair of many colours"?
"Alex and Anastasia - woman and chair in colourful harmony"?
"Alexandra: keeping voices, creeping choices, peace in crisis. Trust in Isis." Ooops, getting carried away!
Welcome! I hope you like it here. The locals are a bit , so I think you'll fit right in.

I am progressing well in my aim to become a poet. Already I've achieved doggerel....
Why aren't you off doing something useful, anyway, like updating the home page?

Oh, hello NAITA, nice to see you're maintaining our consistently high standards of, er, whatever we purvey here. 'Thrust in Isis' - a blasphemous concept if ever I heard one.... When you write the book, I demand 50% of the film rights, 'cause it was half my idea.

Alex Chaser, welcome!
Um... I would be updating the home page, but I wan't entirely clear how you wanted to be listed in the roster. You have seen our roster, haven't you? It's right over there.
*points at A665101, about 1/5 of the way down.*
Shall I just list you as 'Alex Chaser - Anastasia the Comfy Chair, Colour of the Sky, With Voices'?
I'm gratified, by the way, to learn that voices look like cats. Apparently Blake once said that angels look like thoughts, but I suspect he was insane.
Anyway, welcome aboard. There's generally some conversation going on here on some social, moral, or metaphysical topic. Feel free to toss out an opening question, or whatever, if the spirit moves you. Or tell us what you think you believe, and we'll ooh and aah and have a jolly good new-member-roasting.

That would be the one Roger McGough calls "Mad Billy Blake", would it?
<'Alex Chaser - Anastasia the Comfy Chair, Colour of the Sky, With Voices'>
"Judy in disguise - with glasses." or "Lucy in the sky with diamonds". Yes, I probably need (much) stronger medication, but these phrases just sprung to mind. Well done, GTB! If Alex is agreeable, surely that will be a might fine epithet!
Much.

Seeing as I so far in my life have only finished two short stories... 50% of the film rights for that one you can have. (Memo to self: never use title 'Thrust in Isis')
I've got my own pantheon to play with anyways, no need to pillage the Egyptians or any other historical religion.

I'm still considering changing my title... I'm just not spreading as much discontent as I used to.

Howdy, Alex. Welcome to the asylum.
MaW: How about "30% Less Discontent Than The Leading Brand"?
GTB: When you add Alex to the page, you might want to go ahead and add agcBen's University project page to the library. Not that I'd tell you how to do your job or anything...

And the stopwatch comes to rest at... 2 months??
I was amusing myself by seeing how long it took me to get recognized in here. Although a couple members already noticed me and gave me a shout on my homepage, I was beginning to wonder anyone was going to recognize me in here. As the time passed, mild amusement was replaced by curiosity, then boredom, concern, and was rounding the corner to crushing disappointment until just now. Good save.
As for the stopwatch that counts up to months, don't bother to ask where I got it. It was a misguided attempt by someone to improve upon the design of an existing product and thus corner the market. So far as I know, there's only one other in operation. It's in the hands of a gas station attendant in Zzyzx, California, who turned a bunch of Harlequin ducks loose in the Mojave Desert town to time how long they take to evolve sand-colored feathers and non-webbed feet, in an attempt to prove the existence of macro-evolution. Nobody has had the heart to tell him that they died two weeks into the experiment, and the desert heat has dessicated them to the point that they are perfectly preserved. The man has been heartily excited to see that the feathers are indeed changing color, not realizing that the sun is simply bleaching them.
