Key to Time wasn't a true arc though, was it? Not in terms of ongoing plot development. Yes, each story was about getting the next segment, but there wasn't actually any progression from story to story. Apart from Armageddon Factor, I supose.

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Posted Mar 30, 2005
Oh, yeah... of course it wasn't... it was one of the BBC's infamous 'umberalla plots' (kind of like a story arc but, like you said, with no real plot development).
Still, the Armageddon Factor had one of the best bits of dialogue in the whole of Doctor Who.
Doctor: 'We have the power to do anything we like. Absolute power over every particle in the universe. Everything that has ever existed and ever will exist. As from this moment - are you listening to me Romana?'
Romana: 'Yes of course I'm listening...'
Doctor: 'Because if you're not listening, I can make you listen. Because I can do anything. As from this moment there's no such thing as free will in the entire universe. There's only my will because I possess the Key to Time.'
Romana: 'Doctor, are you all right?'
Doctor: 'Well of course I'm all right... but supposing I wasn't all right?'

If you missed bits of Farscape and have digital check out the re-runs on late night BBC3.they just started second series.
I don't have Sky so am still desperately waiting for the mini-series.
Was definitely one of the best

I'm waiting for the dvd's of Farscape to come down to a sensible price. Or a trip to the States, whichever comes first.
Though I'm more likely to invest in a copy of 'Deadwood' if it's out by the time I do get the States.

I managed to pick up SG-1 dvd sets for £30 each, I can't believe they want £80 for Star Trek DVDs and nearly £90 for the last series of X Files yet I got the last series of B5 for £40

Last time I looked Farscape was going for £95 a season. Or £25 pound for a two disk box, which works out at about £150 a season.

The more popular the show the more money the shops hope they can screw out of the fans

Bugger me, that's steep. Bet they're not completely lacking in anything of interest like the Trek ones though.
Mind you, I bet Doctor Who works out steep if you think of them in season terms.

Too scary to think about ~ just buy them bit by bit and never ever work out what it really cost in total

So it's a wee bit early but who cares at least they won't be able to give up on it now.

MMF - Keeper of Mustelids, with added P.M.A., is now in a relationship. Posted Mar 30, 2005
So will it be entitled:
"Doctor Who versus Michael 'The Master' Grade"
in "The Ratings War!" ???
Although the article implies there may be a new Doctor? Must be the shortest regeneration ever, and only leaves room for 4 (?) more regenerations. I am right? It was twelve regenerations, wasn't it?

Yeah, but having seen some of the interviews with Chris Ecclestone he seems to be genuine in long term his plans for the Doctor, I don't think he's in it for just the one season, I also think he turned down some big projects to get the part of the Doctor

We just got to make sure Michael Grade doesn't persuade them to stick it in some crappy timeslot like last time.
Isn't Eccleston the 9th Dr ~ i suppose we have to count McGann.

Zantic - Who is this woman?? Posted Mar 30, 2005
Just had one of the funnier moments of my life. I'd just finished reading the latest posts to this thread and turned on the telly.
BBC4 are showing Spitting Image (with commentary ) and the first sketch I saw was the BBC silly ideas dept. Along the lines of
'they are complaining that we aren't producing enough silly ideas'
'what!? But we've scrapped Dr. Who, the longest running etc etc etc'
Don't remember the rest. Was laughing to loud!

I loved Spitting Image, it was one of my favourite programmes, I liked the supercool Pope, Mrs Thatcher and Norman 'The Biker' Tebbit

OK, Ecclestone is the 9th Doctor so that is 8 regenerations. The Dr is allowed 12 regenerations so that is 4 more actors who can play him. Ecclestone has not yet said he is going to do the second season. If (aggg! sorry) WHEN the 13th actor decides to quit how do they keep the series going. I have read (but not corroborated) that the timelords can give extra regenerations...but then again it is just fiction so they can do what ever they want to keep the series going.
