"To tie in to Radio 4's CERN themed day in 2008, a CERN-themed radio episode of Torchwood written by Joseph Lidster, entitled Lost Souls, will air as the day's Afternoon Play on 10 September. This will be the first Torchwood drama not to feature Burn Gorman and Naoko Mori."

Well Hitchhikers I can't complain about.

I'm just not really a radio person. Get so fed up with all the talking that seems to happen a lot. Especially when it's nonsense or politics.

I must admit I'm tempted to listen just to hear how much physics they get wrong.

A CERN episode does sound interesting. I might try and listen in.

But in brief (and from A2 physics last year): CERN is a particle accelerator underground beneath the Swiss-Frech border. They are trying to find the "missing" fundamental particle (the particles that are building blocks of atoms).

It's all *very* complicated

Oh yeah! The big doughnut particle accelerator!!! Heard they used the American one to create a tiny amount of anti-matter a few years back.

Ah, this was on Mock The Week. Apparently they're going to create a tiny black hole on Wednesday which Russel Howard is going to disappear in to live on telly.
Or summat.

Well that's not *really* what they're trying to do...

Sometimes, yes. But that's not the same thing. CERN is much, much more than just the LHC.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the Torchwood radio play - the ideas behind it sound interesting. And I got the three new Doctor Who novels today!

Anyone catch Lost Souls? I've just finished listening to it and it's not bad. Some of the writing is exceptionally cheesy, but the story is really quite atmospheric and has a lot of the Torchwood darkness which I really like.

Good stuff. Satisfies my Whoniverse cravings for now.
