Good work Gif ... I had to wait until TD/DT explained it all. Fairly comfortable with it.

"I twigged when he pulled out the stethoscope."

How did you twig it from that? All it told me was that TD/DT was checking whether TND/DM had two hearts. But that didn't give me any better idea whether he was TND or not ...

I liked the first half of the story, mainly when we were trying to decipher who TND/DM was; but found the later stages a little cluttered and dark.

Especially liked the TND/DM's sonic screwdriver and TARDIS!

Well if he only had one smiley - love not two smiley - cdouble he was human.

If he was human I started mentally, checking-off who he might be - I didn't think ho! He's Jackson Lake, but I began entertaining the possibility. By the time The Dr sat him down in the barn, with that grim look on his face I could guess what was coming.

I didn't mean I solved it just that was when I 'twigged' to the clue I was being given and began thinking along the right lines.

At the time I couldn't quite nail what I found a little disappointing about this episode, but I think primarily that the Cybermen are almost incidental to the whole story. It could have been any Dr Who monster or visiting alien. In other stories they have seemed unstoppable, in this they seemed weak relying on others to help them. They didn't just arrive and start taking over the place.

That said, I think the disappointment is much more a criticism of the trailers. Had I not expected Cybermen, I doubt I would have had such heady expectations.

I liked the beginning of the story, but then that the woman was betrayed seemed too simple. I would have liked to see her try to create some kind of feminist revolution using the cybermen. The giant cyberman just seemed too saturday morning cartoon-ish.

>I liked the beginning of the story, but then that the woman was betrayed seemed too simple. I would have liked to see her try to create some kind of feminist revolution using the cybermen.

I was hoping that she'd stay-on as the leader of the cybermen. This would both distinguish them from the daleks (to whom they've always seemed too similar) and create a nice twist, the "cybermen" being lead by an all-powerful female. Was not to be, alas. I'd think RTD didn't want to mess with the accepted mythology too much but the "Cybusmen" are distinct from the "proper" cybermen anyway.

>The giant cyberman just seemed too saturday morning cartoon-ish.

It felt like something typical of a Christmas Special which is why I don't think it worked; up until then "The Next Doctor" had felt more like a standard (and above-average) Doctor Who story. The spectacle of Stay-Puft Cyberman stomping around London felt tagged-on and out of chime with the rest of the story.

For me, it was Abadon from Torchwood Season One. Had to check to make sure that wasn't another RTD script.

That was a good Ghostbusters!!! The CyberKing was a bit naff though. Very 1950s robot.
