Er...I didn't like Grey, but I liked the surprising turn of Captain John.
Jack and Gwen crying at the end made me lose it, Tosh was absolutely believable, Gwen taking control of the police force was brill. Ianto "eye candy" might as well have been invisible, I can remember he was in it but don't recall anything he did except wipe Owen's computer file.

Traveller in Time finally seeing the decaf version in sync
"He made some logic remarks early in the show.
I do not get how Captain John managed to convince Tosh, or the others . . .
I was just wondering why they entered the confirnments all at the same time as the doors closed
There were many good moments, overall it was not brilliant. "

Nor did it make sense that his clothes were just a little bit grubby when he was dug up in 1901. The RAF greatcoat at the very least would be made from mostly natural fibres and so would have almost completely rotted away.

utter pants. My feelings on that finale.
Hopefully all the energy and writing has gone into the new series of Who.
Very lacklustre all round I'm afraid. And killing off the best acted characters? Oh dear.
The only episode of this season of Torchwood I enjoyed was the one written by Chris Chibnall (Life on Mars) - Remnants I think it was called.

*agrees with traveller in time-
"There were many good moments, overall it was not brilliant."
about says what I thought.
Although I'm sorry, I couldn't help giggling when in the oh so sad and meaningful and emotional post death scenes at the hub the rather tacky 'final logout ' screen came up. Yep, they've definitly logged out this time. That was quite bad.
And of course now Capn Jack has an 'on-tap' baddy who wants to kill him ready in the wings whenever they want.
Plus, two deaths? Clear out ready for a revamp?

Yeah, 2000 years was a bit excessive, presumably the writer thought it'd be cool to set the scene that far back.
Sad to see Tosh go. Owen never convinced me that much as a character. Also Naoko Mori is better looking than Burn Gorman (is that really his name?).

What puzzles me is why Owen was still logged in anyway... Tosh was in the hub, but he was in a power station. Had he never heard of information security?

Traveller in Time removing obsolete accounts
"The computers at the hub never really go down, guess there is a bio scan for starting a session and a timeout to close a session. What we have seen was the accounts beeing removed from becoming active.
How els could Tosh leave a message saying a final goodbeye "

"What we have seen was the accounts beeing removed from becoming active."
Perhaps they should have said that then. "Are you sure you want to delete this user?" would have been far more sensible.
I was just reading the Behind the Sofa blog, and they made a comparison between Jack's burial and the Curse of Fatal Death. "Nine hundred years in a sodding sewer!"

Sorry I'm a bit late, only just found this conversation!
Can somebody help me out with a bit of logic? By my reckoning there's still a Jack buried somewhere. Isn't there? The one Torchwood dug up and the one who's timeline he locked himself in the freezer to avoid meeting. Or is it just a 19-something/dawn of time loop?
Also, I'm fairly sure Grey called Jack "Jack". Why? It's not his real name.
Bye.

I don't think they're ever going to, which is a bit annoying. You'd have thought, with all those imaginative people, somebody could come up with an explanation!

Mister Matty Posted Apr 14, 2008
Do they really need one? Why does the sixth doctor look like a villain from the Davison era? Why did an older version of the sleazy womaniser from "Revelation of the Daleks" show up on the starship Titanic in the 2007 Christmas episode? Sometimes they re-use actors and, er, that's it. Maybe Gwneth has nothing to do with Gwen other than being played by Eve Myles, maybe she's an ancestor. There's no great question which *needs* to be answered, it's up to the writers whether they decide there's a link or not.

It´s just the fact that they are both in Cardiff and they chose similar names for them too.

Jemstone Posted Apr 14, 2008
Where did the Gwyneth reference come from? I think I missed something.
Torchwood
Xanatic Posted Apr 14, 2008
It´s from The Unquiet Dead. The actress who played Gwen in Torchwood played the character Gwyneth in that.

Sorry, only just seen the final episode. Mixed feelings as usual, though it probably held the attention better than the rest of the series.
Very disappointed about the old 'nuclear-plant-goes-into-meltdown-at-the-drop-of-a-hat' routine; it's a very tired and cliched plot trick for creating a disaster scenario from nowhere and totally unrealistic. The final lockdown bit where Owen 'dies' was also pure fantasy - they could've come up with a far more plausible ending with a few minutes googling.
But Naoki Mori was brilliant - you can actually see her eyes go dead when Tosh dies. Big shame they killed her.

She is fab-lus! Can't believe they've killed off my two favourites!

"Why did an older version of the sleazy womaniser from "Revelation of the Daleks"" Such a good description and I wish I could remember the 'Revelation' character's name.
Similarly, how does Laurence Scarman from 'The Pyramids of Mars' manage to stay so young to then change his name and become headmaster of Coal Hill School in 1963 ('Remembrance of the Daleks') and still manage to be deputy head of Grange Hill (Mr Bronson) in the late 1980s?!!
I thought the last episode was pretty good and very sad. I'll greatly miss Tosh (that actress deserves an award) but I won't miss Owen much. If I'd known what we learnt in episode 12 earlier, I'd want him to stay and miss him more but too little too late.
Torchwood has an opening for a medical officer. Any chance Miss Martha Jones might apply? I'd presumed her entry into Torchwood would be through Owen dying (which I was right about for about 7 days ) but now that he's dead dead, her path is clear. I think her character would suit Torchwood brilliantly. Any ideas on Tosh and Owen's replacements?

But she has such an annoying voice! Sorry, very rude of me I know but it drives me up the wall.
