Zak T Duck Started conversation Jan 6, 2002
Does anyone have plans for a mini meetup for those around the night before?

Mina here, that thead has got some of our arrangements on it, but it's be nice to have a specific thread for Friday though, and this has a clear title.
Blues Shark suggested the PorterHouse at Covent Garden where we were last year, or maybe the Moon under the Water on Charing Cross road, which has the added benefit of being a wetherspoons, high ceilinged and so not so smoky and also quite cheap. Which should be good, as some of us will be in London fairly early on in the afternoon.
They both do food, and are both big enough that a party of researchers won't annoy the other punters too much. Any alternative suggestions, or votes for those? (my vote - Wetherspoons)
Mina.

You can't really go wrong with a Weatherspoons, so I'll vote for that one too.
I'm due in Euston at about 5ish depending on how late the trains are. Would you like my mobile number Mina just in case?

You can email it to me, have you got my address? Don't put the number on the site though.

I'll come along, if that's okay... Is the Weatherspoons near Tottenham Court Road tube or is it more at the other end of Charing Cross Road? I would probably be there about 5.00...

There is one near Tottenham Ct Road... a very nice one However, I can only find my way there in the dark (don't ask)
Still unsure as to whether I can make it - I don't know when my on-calls are and I don't have a bleep yet either

it's number 105, and I think it's nearest Leicester Square tube station.
I haven't got BluesShark here now to give better directions, but I'll post more later when he's back. He knows London better than I do.

It's about 5-10 mins from TCR station. Walking down towards Charring Cross/Leicester Sq - If you go past the theatre at Cambridge Circus (Les Misrables) walking from TCR you've gone too far
The Porterhouse was good though...

I think I know which one you mean
There is also definitely one near Tot. Ct. Rd tube station - went into it post-Dead Ringers TV pilot

I mean the one that used to be the Marquee.
TCR is the nearest tube station, I think. Other Person has it pretty much bang on.

I'll see if some of the h2g2 Team want to come too, I think I can make a beer or two after work and they're often up for a pint too. We're off-duty if we do come though, cos' we have to work all day Saturday!

It is close to Foyles, past the Art College on the same side of the road. I don't shop there anymore, but there are a *large* number of bookshops in the area which is always a bad idea when I'm a little tipsy as my willpower drops to nothing. As if i had any in the first place.

That's what I meant. Foyles is really too expensive...but the number of 2nd hand bookshops.... can we make it somewhere else then
