I dunno, the tubes seem to usually get me where I want to go. You get used to standing up... Might be annoying having to do it twice a day in rush hour though.

Ah, during rush hour you do not so much 'stand up' as 'remain upright' due to lack of space....
Anyway, I was thinking more of the trains, which, when they run (little) are usually highly unsuited to the number of passengers etc. Much the same with the busses (my current mode of transport) which nevver turn up, usually due to the center of londong being such a pig, and alwys being packed...
Or is this all because I am foolishly trying to get to and from work at the wrong times...maybe I should got to work at seven in the evening and come home at six in the morning....That might work...

Have you heard the plans by Connex trains to increase the comfort of passengers travelling to London from Kent?
In order to increase comfort they plan to, erm, remove all the seats and the toilets from trains, as their trials show that having 7 people standing in each square metre for 2 hours is more comfortable than sitting down, especially when they all desperately need the toilet.
BTW - I loath Dr Beeching.
