Non-smoking or smoking?
Kaz Started conversation Dec 11, 2001
Can you let me know which it will be, as I have asthma and chronic bronchitus. At the moment being in a room with just 1 smoker, who is smoking, gives me breathing problems. So, its something I have to take very seriously.

Hi Kaz!
This is not something that we had thought about to be honest. From what I remember from last time, there were so few smokers, it did not seem to be a huge problem. But I will consult with Peta when she returns on Monday. I am sure we will be able to do something.
I don't smoke and I know how it makes my nose and throat hurt - so it must be sweet agony for you.

Non-smoking is by me!
And it'd be nice of those who smoke (outside, maybe?) take a few breaths before returning - just the other day a woman who had obviously just inhaled the last of her cigarette stepped into the same lift as I was in - and made my cough by simply breathing out!

I'm perfectly happy with non smoking, as I'm asthmatic as well, although not as bad (as has been proved) as Kaz.
Apart from my lungs, it makes my dreads stink, then I carry it around for weeks.

If there was a choice, I'd go for non-smoking as well - or in part at least. Although I won't make a fuss about it, I'm asthmatic too and smoke can be a trigger if it's right in my face.

Well I vote for non-smoking too, particularly if Jim is bringing his young daughters, Charlotte and Isobel.
Jim votes for non-smoking too incidentally.

Is it so bad to go without for a few hours, or to go outside and smoke? I'm not being sarky, its a serious question!

Hmm, well, its "not soo bad", but surely a venue big enough to house the amount of researchers it looks like we are going to have, will have two rooms? I'd have thought so, so one bar smoking? and one bar for people to breath in?

Sounds quite grim. I'll be waiting in the smokers bar, waiting for someone to peg it. I can assist if really want to, that is if you find that fags aren't quick enough. Not that ... ACHOO!! ... anybody wants me to help. It's a hard life being the fifth horseman. You get War, Death, Pestilence, famine and the other one. That's me that is, the other one as I'm so often referred.
You'll find me slumped over the bar. Anyone got any Lemsip?

Hi All
There's a solution to this that will hopefully please everyone, smokers and non-smokers.
The pub has two bars, one upstairs and one downstairs. I suggest that we nominate the upstairs smaller bar room as the smoking room, and the larger downstairs bar as the non-smoking room. There's a long stairway and a couple of closing doors between the bars, so smoke shouldn't travel between the two rooms.
This means that nobody should feel ostracised whether smoker or non-smoker and *all* of the guests can stay in the warm and dry.
There you go. Problem solved.

Oh dear.
Steps.
I do hate steps. Especially pearly ones. To have to go all that way and probably find when you get there that no-one else is about.
Story of my life really ... ...
ACHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
