At last at last!
I still haven't had a reply from the RSPB to my last letter Waz. I was hoping they might give me some more convincing information about why they regard the white heads and ruddys as completely separate species. All that stuff about behaviour and morphology just makes you wonder how French Poodles and Yorkshire terriers can be members of the same species. Who would have imagined we could have got such a variety from the wolf in hardly any time (on a geological time scale) - all of which can still interbreed with each other ... the Chihuahua might need a stool of course if he fancies a Great Dane

all.
I got to the party quicker this time Bossel .
Good to see you back Shorn, or just dropping in, whichever it is. French poodles, Great Danes - sound distinctly alien to me , they better keep well away from our British bulldogs.

Hi Bossell, are you still subscribed here? If you are can I ask you something about what happens next?

Yepp
According to standing practice (http://www.h2g2.com/SubEditors-Process), this entry should be out with a SubEd now. This can be found out by doing a h2g2 search for the entry's title: if it returns two entries -one 'recommended' and one not- then you know there's a copy out there which is 'owned' by the Sub. Subs are receiving 'their' entries in batches of four, with four weeks time to return them to the in-house Editors who may apply some more editing, add external BBC links and insert into the different h2g2 index pages. When this point has been reached, the entry's copy changes its state to 'pending' which simply means that it's waiting for the big day.
Makes me wonder that there still isn't a copy of this entry . Best thing would be to post a question to the feedback forum!

Thanks Bossell - that's what I was wondering about. Off to feedback now, just in case the ducks have fallen down a black hole.

Hi folks,
I dropped in to tell you that I've been given this fabulous entry to subedit. In fact, I have already made a few changes, which you could see here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A663004. If you spot something that has to be corrected or that you want to comment upon, please feel free to drop me a note.

Yep, there we are . Chris (from feedback query) said he thought there was a problem with the search engine.
Hi SchrEck, I like the links you've added, but I'm waiting to see if any vegetarian duck lovers among us comment on the 'How to cook a duck' one . It would have to be poor old ruddy duck that got cooked since going for the whiteheads will bring down the UN, the EEC and umpteen National Govt.s about your ears, even if they do just sit there waiting to be caught
.

The search engine, ha ha! That's what they always say. Bigots!

Oh, using it as a scapegoat are they? Should we start a campaign against the maligning of search engines ?

Yepp, I think so. Wasn't there something about non-defamation on h2g2? I mean, search engines deserve a good reputation and then there are the house rules etc!

Hi Wazungumza,
I've deliberately added the link to 'How to cook a duck' entry just to see if someone noticed... If you have no objections, I'd rather leeave it in.

Shorn Canary ~^~^~ sign the petition to save the albatrosses Posted Dec 7, 2001
I AM that vegetarian duck lover. I object !
Not really though
I do object to the "ethnic cleansing" of the ruddy ducks but eating a free-ranging wild animal that isn't a member of endangered species doesn't seem as bad as eating a battery chicken, for example ..... in my opinion, at least.
