No chance in seeing reviews of Alien 3 and Alien Ressurection?
.... Me again, ecky day!
Awix Posted Jan 2, 2004
Okay:
'Alien 3 is underrated, though then again I have odd tastes sometimes, and by the way Paul McGann is underused.'
'Alien 4 is a worthless rehash of the first two movies and Giger is right about them amking his beautiful monster look ugly.'
Possibly extended versions to follow...
(BTW, it's 'oaky day', whatever that means...)

Very professional!
I love the way Ridley's director's cut is ten minutes shorter than the original and Alien 3's extended version doesn't even have the alien bursting out of ripley's chest!
I wouldn't say Gigar's monsters were beautiful judging by where he gets his ideas!
Beechy day.

And just to annoy you even more... What does it take to be a guest reviewer AND are we having the LASsie awards this year?
.... Me again, oaky day!
Awix Posted Jan 3, 2004
Guest reviewer? Well, mostly it's down to me asking people to review a particular film. Only one person's ever volunteered a review without being asked and even then I *heavily* rewrote it to fit the (ahem) standards of the column.
The new look Lassies for 2003 come out this Thursday.

Er, yes, things like spelling and punctuation, making sure there's a basic amount of info about the plot and filmmakers, making sure there are opinions beyond the level of 'this sucked' or 'it's the greatest trilogy ever made. Hopefully a few decent jokes. The usual stuff.

Spook.
Seeing as we're having this kind of conversation, might I suggest you tune your TV-reviewing antennae to road-test the current crop of light-engineering game shows? You've got Scrapheap, Full Metal Challenge, Robot Wars, Demolition Time, and probably a few more I can't think of.

What you want me to review them here?
Robot wars did vastly improve after Craig Charles took the job as far as presentation.
As far as SSS this week it's the dreadful 'The Pitts'.

Awix Posted Jan 5, 2004
No, just trying to give you ideas for columns. It's not like my particular area where only two or three new films come out every week.
Never heard of The Pitts, though.

Started Sunday on ITV2.
Oh you meant my vast area of reviewable material?
Mm, maybe.
But you have the advantage of a set of criteria by which to review.
I can't exactly talk about directors because as far as TV nobody cares!
Acting? Well yeah, but that's only really necessary with soaps or dramas.

Awix Posted Jan 6, 2004
TV can still be well or badly directed, it doesn't matter how well-known the director is.
I've reviewed at least one film without acting in it, too - and not in a funny way either. No, two: Lost in La Mancha and Bowling For Columbine
BTW, did you know Tom Cruise is in talks about doing the Iron Man movie?
.... Me again, oaky day!
[...] Posted Jan 6, 2004
Lost in La Mancha does have acting in it!
Depp with the fish!
*sigh* Iron Man... Lestat...
I knew of spiderman 2, FF, X3, Punisher and Silver Surfer... I can't remeber if Iron man was mentioned by Lee in an interview.
#I am Iron Man...
