I've just tested the colour contrast (thanks 2legs for finding me the guidelines), and whaddayaknow? The new design fails the web accessibility standards in some pretty important areas, like the terms and conditions and the links to featured content and help pages!

I suspect that's why we get so many people saying it looks "washed out" or "bland" - not because the colours themselves are bad (I quite like the blue), but because it's somewhat lacking in contrast.

I thought it oughta fail on those points; I&#39;m not great at maths, otherwise I&#39;d probably oughta have been able to convert your percentages from photoshop to the ratios that they seem to prefer to use in the WCAG guidelines... They are, BTW, now pretty much accepted round the world, and in the UK at least, they are refered to in law from the Disability discrimination act, for the first time a few years ago, refering in particular to the 'provision of services', including web-sites... You&#39;d think the beeb woudl want to meet web design guidelines, and legal requirements I&#39;m confused by many things, but I&#39;m really starting to dig the new apostrophies
