anhaga,
Please don't confuse wiki the software, which is pretty belgium cool, with wikip*d**, which is everything you say it is.
You can have a wiki for a collaborative work of fact, fiction, poetry, pictures, etc. You can make parts of it editable, and close off edits when it is complete. You can let everyone have their own sandbox to play in. You can get complete works of wonderful nonsense such as Uncyclopedia, and you can get explosive bits of hitherto secret information such as wikileaks. You and your friends can make an interactive guide to your hometown or you can make an interactive guide to a fantasy world.

Back when I was a regular contributor to the h2g2Post
we used to 'delete' works in progress so they were hidden
from the public until the Post was published. They could then
be 'uncancelled'.
Being able to keep works in progress hidden has been an important
part of the creative process, especially with writing poetry.
Someone said there is a HIDE function in the new blue hootoo but
I can't find it. Someone else warned that if you DELETE it really
does delete, like permanently.
Cripes, even Microsoft always asks if you're sure first.
But I can't even find a DELETE button.
BTW
Whether it was deliberate or not I really like the term 'filther'.
It's the one smile to be had in the last few pages of legitimate
grips and concerns. These many issues are getting in the way of
our normal discourse and people are getting angry and frustrated.
I hope it all comes out in the wash but I fear the overwhelming
load of beefs and bugs is gonna get even more depressing before
it gets better.

>>> I just came from a poetry thread where my poem was repeatedly rejected because it contained an "offensive" word. I tried a one-word poem: the word "My". This was deemed offensive as well.
Why would this word be offensive? Is this a bug of some sort, or a program that just doesn't like poetry? <<<
i think you hit the nail on the head paulh
i think this new program they made doesnt like anything creative...
what does it remind me of?
hmmm
oh! i know!
that machine that sucks the life out of people in Dark Crystal!!

Just for the sake of curiousity I took one of my old poems and set it down as a new entry.
surprise, surprise the computer seemed to like it.
the preview had a bunch of unfamiliar formatting marks but look at the finished product
it is A80076648 and even has a conversation attached that was not rejected by any filters.

The first 3 words from post 1 by the eds,
'Good news everyone.'
Sorry to bring religion into it on h2g2 ...but it's a bit funny...it reminds me of those very, very silly leaflets the God squad at school used to secretly put on our desks at lunchtime,
'Good news for modern man'

You can't have Shrimp! not on a Friday, or a Saturday, only on every second Sunday if it follows an even numbered weekend from the base 10 of the fractal of the preceding month, not at all on a Monday, and tuesday's out of the question too, Wednesday is ok so long as its a full moon on a leap year, but Thursdays is a day of rest from Shrimp eating... asides that, feel free, its fill yourself with shrimp time...

I actually tried octopus tonight...it was in Morrison's cheap. I tried grilling it at a very high temperature like I'd normally cook squid. It was rubbery as I threw away most of it..
Anyone any clues about quick cooking of octopus?
