It is amazing the damage the smoke does to your home.
Just think all of that stickky tar has been on your lungs even longer, no clean up team
Good you are cutting down.
It is a bit concerning to think of MK2 going outside to smoke with her health problems (ignoring other issue)and with your bone pains the change of temperature and getting chills popping outdoors might give you spasms. I always thought it was the cold or damp that directly affected people the worst but it is the drastic changes more than the stable cold or damp. Although the high humidity is not helpful in general
Not preaching because I also smokesadly.
I though of a snippet topic the other day and cannot seem to retrieve the idea. If I do. I'll mention it.
Keep writing!

Hi Abbi, Its great to see you back in here again!
We don't actually go outside for a smoke, what we do is sit at a window and open it
We have an old office chair just for that job, and keep an ash tray on the windowsill It seems to work fine as well. We had visitors last night, a couple we used to be neighbors to years ago, any way, they liked what we had done, and said that the house smelled clean and fresh
Mk2 is still in bed taking it easy, doctor is going to check her tomorrow?
says she might have to go into hospital
Wish you could remember that story title for me, as I am running out of ideas

Hi again! I read your snippet in the Post and I would like to talk to you about how I stopped smoking after more than forty years of inhaling. Maybe it helps you and your wife. I always say you can only stop smoking when you really decide you want to give up. I myself used to say, I know it's bad, I ought to stop, but I never wanted to stop, not really. Well, one day, after none smoking husband kept sniffing to show his dislike, I thought I would not be slave anymore to a stupid little cigarette. So I stopped. I decided that if I really needed a smoke,I'd smoke in the evening at eight o'clock. When it got to eight, I asked myself if I could do without till the next night at eight.(I had met a guy who smoked one cigarette every evening at eight) There was a pack in my drawer for just this emergency. I would have like to smoke, and the more I worked, the more I wanted to smoke, but I could stand it without. So a week went by and the psychological need, the habit of holding a cigarette, had become much less... I kept the pack in my drawer for three months. Well, I have never smoked again and that was twelve years ago and recent exams showed me, that my lungs are fine. If there were no harm in cigarettes, I'd smoke again, because I liked smoking, but since we know better now... If this helps you, this AA method, I' be very happy for you and your wife too. Love, F

Hi Farawaylady, We never had the intention of stopping really, it was just that we had worked so hard to clean the place up, that we thought we would just ban smoking inside the house
We live under too much stress here, even to think about stopping? My wife knows its killing her, but does not want to stop? Like I said earlier, if the doctor had said it would lengthen her life, then maybe she would have stopped, but he never
Our life here is more like a living hell, with unsocial neighbours and the like, maybe once we get out of here things might be different

I understand and respect your decision. My father in law had stopped smoking when he was in his forties, but when he was seventy he started again because, as he said, he would not live for very long any more and there was no time to do him any damage. Who knows, when I am ninety... ha, ha. I am sorry it is so bad over there. My sister says the same about Germany and I the same about here, must be the fashion nowadays! Meanwhile I am still enjoying your snippets. Love to you and your wife, F

Hi F, Glad your enjoying the Snippets, I am starting to run short of ideas these days as to writing them
My father in law (to my first wife) was ex Navy same as myself, anyway he smoked cigars all his life, on the quiet
His wife knew really I think, its just she hated the smell of them.
I like him a lot, and we got on great, even after the divorce, which was a bad thing according to his wife
I couldn't go to his funeral when he died, which I thought was a pity at the time
Ah! well, that was then, and I now have new life down here

Hi there smudger.At last i found your snippets,but don't ask me how i got here,i don't have a clue!!!
Both my hubby and me soked, until he had a heart attack seven year ago, then his 40 a day habit stopped......he gave his cigarettes away the same night, and has never had one since.
I still smoke, and just don't have the willower to give up,as much as i want to.
You reminded me as i read, that every year, just before christmas,we used to decorate the lounge,it always looked dull and drab. Then we stopped smoking in the house, apart from in the kitchen, and ,although it needs a coat of paint now,it's five years since we decorated the lounge!!!Of course it doesn't help when the budgie we got a year or so ago decides to nibble the wallpaper.

Hi Smurfles, Its good that your husband managed to stop smoking Our house smells a lot better now after we started our ban, it looks fresher as well
I remember when we had a budgie when we stayed in another place, we had to give it away as we found out it was causing problems with Mk2s breathing
It was a pity as I had trained to come and sit on my finger when it was time to go back in his cage. We dont have any pets now, just each other
Its getting real cold now to sit at the window for a smoke, I only hope we can keep it up

hi smudger.I'm sure when you look round your lovely clean room you'll find a way of smoking without getting too cold, maybe you could keep a scarf handy !!!
I have to be honest......i smoke in the kitchen ,as i said, but i do have a bench which is close to the back door,so i can smoke outside,That was my original intention, but it's not too nice in winter,so i changed the rules to suit .
When i go to my daughters i always go outside, but i rarely smoke a whole cigarette in winter, especially as i have to hold on to the drainpipe !!!

Hey! If the government get their way, we will not be allowed to smoke any where! Including outside
I personally think that they have gone too far with this anti-smoking campaign
It seems that criminals now have more civil rights than us smokers

I think the government are cutting their own throats smudger.I can't see where the money they lose in taxes will come from if everyone stopped smoking......of course they could always double the council tax i suppose!!
They have no revenue from council house rents ,cos they sold all those to housing associations, they have no revenue from residential care homes, cos they closed most of them,They disposed of most of the buildings in our city that have stood for years.
It makes me wonder if they sit on their brains, because they seem to have a blank space between their ears!!!

Well you know what they say, you have to be Mad to want to be a politician in the first place
They have still got the massive tax on fuel to fall back on and of course income tax, of which I used to pay massive amounts of, when I was working offshore, in fact I used to pay in tax a week in the 80s what I earned a month with the ambulance service in the 90s
