As a slight aside, a wonderful thing to mix with absinthe is port! Mix about two shots of port to one of Absinthe for a really quite wonderful day. Having said that, I take no responsibilty for the consequences of doing so...it's all on your own heads. And while I'm on the subject, somebody mentioned Pernod. Try a double Pernod, topped up with cherryade in a half-pint glass with some ice. It's bright pink and mind-bendingly good.

as for pernod, its yucky! and best belongs down the plughole!

Pernod is great, as long as you don't mix it with blackcurrant or do anything stupid like that, just dilute with water and drink! Great on a sunny afternoon.
