Tea 'n' Gowns
Vip Posted Dec 5, 2002
At 22:18?? Ah, I love the differences in time around the globe. It makes h2g2 that little bit more interesting.

Terran Posted Dec 5, 2002
Yes, but plays havoc with anyone wanting to set a time to do anything . I guess thats why h2g2 isn't specific about dates until after 5 weeks.
Oh well, not worth worrying about . I'll be in my dressing gown soon enough . anyone?

Um, actually it's 23.25 here, so maybe we should wait until morning after all... On the other hand H2G2 _is_ a virtual place....

I assumed it was morning for you! Where are you, an hour ahead of me?

*I* certainly do!
But most people drink coffee, and if anyone thinks of offering tea, it will probably be a rather sad yellow label bag... In fact, if you don't drink coffee, you're not regarded as an adult person in Norway!

Some Norwegians prefer to spend their time on H2G2 instead of sleeping...
Is the still hot? I wouldn't mind a cup!

*takes the cup and sips it*
Thanks, Terran, that's pefect!
I think I have a tea drinker's gene that most Norwegians lack. Probably from my mother. Who is also Norwegian, by the way, but there's probably an Englishman somewhere in her lineage...

*Gets very comfy chair, makes sure he is happy with his dressing gown, and starts drinking tea*
Right so , I call this morning meeting, about when we are going to have a meeting to discuss when we are going to have a meeting about who's going to be making the for the meeting in which we decide whether we want to move to another page and set up a sub cult called "The Cult of the Dentonites: Awaiting the second coming of Arthur Dent".
Whos going to start.

And I've got my dressing gown.
Why do we need a new page? I'm happy with this one. We could jus as well have a new thread.

I'm an American, I should admit first off, but please hear me out! Living in the Pacific Northwest, I admit I'm very far from England, but I can honestly relate to the weather. Grey. Rain. Fog. The sky right now is a particularly definitive shade of grey.
I love tea. Tea is most excellent. I know the importance of fresh, clean, boiling water hitting the loose tea leaves in a warm teapot for no less than 3 and no more than 5 minutes, of adding more tea rather than increasing steeping time for a stronger brew, of adding the milk to the cup *first* so it doesn't scald. Personally I find that sugar is not necessary if the tea is brewed properly (but is quite nice with certain flavored types, especially cinnamon). My living space is never without at least one unwashed mug in view, and I have my own cupboard full of mugs in my room because the family's cupboard is over-flowing already. I have a small collection of teapots, and always keep an emergency tea bag tucked in my purse. I have yet to master the art of the ideal freshly brewed loose-leaf cup of tea, but I'm working on it! So I admit, I'm mostly a bag person.
Dressing gowns- I'm wearing my pyjamas and dressing gown (my favorite of three, a real beauty, black cotton velour with terry lining and soft cheetah print trim... okay, not a real Dent-ish choice, but it suits me ) currently, and it is fast approaching four in the afternoon. Even when I'm not wearing jammies I'm often wearing my gown around the house with a cup of tea in hand.
Being bothered to pick up rubbish: Ooh. My mom recently provided me with a second bin, which is the only reason my floor is as free from wadded up tissues as it is, because now I have one within arms reach of all three of my sitting spots in my room (computer chair, stuffed chair, bed). I rely on the "wad-it-up-and-toss" method unless I'm really determined to clean up (which is very rare).
In closing, I'd very much like to be included in this altogether sensible lot. Thank you

PS- I really should familiarize myself with the "tea" smiley...

*sigh* Well, as I sit here in my jammies and robe, I just noticed my is . I'd like to be included in this list, but I think I've been trying too hard... no matter. I already know I'm a
"Dentonite", and have been one since before I was even concious of Arthur Dent... reading the books merely brought to my awareness a new level of enjoyment I could experience with better tea and a better robe (or, er... dressing gown; does it really matter what I call it? All I know is it's comfy and warm...)
*blink* something important... Tea! Must get a refill. oh, and some toast... it's 2:34pm (1434hrs... is that right?) ... I should eat something. *wonders if there's still some good jam left in the fridge*
