Hey we're number one and two on the most frequent posters list
Though I think I'll start dropping down pretty soon as last nights posts get deleted from the total, and there is no way I'm staying up until 4am tonight to refill the gap.

I guess I should get an earlier night tonight too! I got a phone call at 9.00am! So did not get a lie in
The caller is from NZ so is forgiven
I should go and get some food soon too ...

There was a dip from 10:30 to 10:50 whilst I cooked and ate a bowl of Smoked Haddock Chowder. I'm now watching the repeat of Never Mind The Buzzcocks and after that I am definately going.

Well making the assumption that you haven't got cable, satelite or some other such stuff, then its a choice of one out of four. Normally I would have videotaped the show to watch later, but for some reason forgot and had watch live as it were. I agree, it was a very good show.
I'd better dash before the watchers here spot what I'm doing

Looks like you found the button!
Did anyone see what you were doing!
I dont have cable or satalite but I do have 5 channels to chose between - or 6 of you count the occasional local channel

I seem to have got away with it
Actually I was talking to one of the IT lads a few days ago about the new barriers we have at work and what kind of files they've caught. Apparently there has been some real disgusting stuff coming through. They found a double fisting movie file that had been sent to one employee - and it wasn't sent to them as spam either
Five channels. So what is Channel 5 like then? I can't get it living on the south coast. Its not broadcast here as it interfers with French telly or something.

Channel 5 - lets just say I am not sure you are missing out not being able to get it - I never watch it anyway!

Thanks for asking! I had a great day if a little long!
I discovered that I am going to be managing a team of people. There is an interim manager semi in post and she wanted to talk to me about the team once they had all gone home so I did a 10 hour day on my first day! I met loads of people and they almost all seemed great - I just hope i can remember a fraction of the names in the morning. I have all my security passes and clearances, a new mobile phone and a new laptop computer. The computer needs a little help from IT but that is arranged for tomorrow. I have a really hectic diary for the rest of the week and it looks like fun. I have a late meeting every other Thursday starting this week and am even being taken out for dinner this Thursday! On Friday I go to London for the day. I think I am actually really going to enjoy this job

Names? Right then, how many can you remember? We want percentages here. Fundamentally you need to know the name of your boss and the person who makes the most/best tea. After that everyone else can go hang for a bit.
So they've given you new toys. That's good. They're working you hard already. That's good. Did they not tell you that you are now a Manager? That is not so good. Being a manager was the one thing I hated more than anything else. Fortunately over the years I've moved from heading up rote jobs which required me to organise bodies to being a specialist which just requires my brain. Being one of them is a condition I will not return to in a hurry if I can avoid it.
Even though it is only day one its good to hear that you feel that you are up for the job and can make it work. I guess with the added responsibilities (and added drive time) we'll see less of you around these parts. We'll grow to accept it in time, just leave extra when you do drop in

* leaves lots of *
I should still get to call by most evenings and definitely at the weekends - afterall I have lots of friends here and I miss them when I dont see them for a while.
I knew I was going in as a manager with a flexible brief who would have a team in the end - but I did not expect that I would find a team of 10 already I do a lot of management development work and so its good to put it into practice. I have not managed a team this big before. I knew I was joining the senior team so I guess I should not be surprised!
The work load is going to settle a bit but at the moment the only time I can get with some people is when things are quiet. Tomorrow we have a whole project meeting at 5pm and then I am being taken to dinner which is cool!
I think I did quite well with the names of people who I had actually met - probably remembered about 60% of them, but I have only met about 10% of people! There is a machine near my desk and the cans are free too
Today we got the toys working (like getting my emails) and I ordered my car
Right now it is definitely time for a . Care to join me?

*GD hardwires <machine> to his liver*
The impending arrival of my mother is getting me paranoid. It now seems likely that she will be staying until Monday, which was not part of my plan. That said I suppose I can't really kick her out on Sunday as that is her birthday. I just hope we can not have a major row in the meantime. And oh, how we can argue! She remains the only person in the world that I have ever thrown a plate of food at from the dinner table. I doubt I'll be around here much until she leaves, so wish me luck, and if you hear of a sudden case of matricide on the south coast, can I call upon you as a character witness?
So what kind of car are you going to order Coming from the taxpayer supported services, the only person allowed to have what they want around here is the Minister himself, so please excuse me if I come over all green with envy
*leaves plentiful supply of , and until his return *
