A Conversation for German Meet Spring 2010
Where?
I might (underlined might) show up.
I depends on
- possibility to take at least Friday (and preferably even Monday) off work
- amount of gold I'll manage to hoard before this
- availability of affordable tickets and accommodation - and cat sitter
- when the London meet will be

Gonom, I can pick you up and the we can go to Mannheim together. I'm not sure the early trains TC posted would be a wise choice, I've experienced delayed trains too often.

Thanks, B'Elana. Will you be driving to Mannheim?

my train will go through Frankfurt too. (I'll get the ICE from Cologne) and I'll also be researching somewhere to stay too

If you would like me to check out hotels etc, please give me some time as I really can't get over to Mannheim until the end of February.
I've updated the entry on the Meet. Although I just jotted down what I knew about Mannheim off the top of my head (well, I did check a couple of dates from history and the distances from other places, but no thorough research, really) it's nearly turned into an entry on Mannheim!
Just keep me posted about which list you would like to be in, or if you'd like to be deleted altogether. I was cheeky enough to put Pierce and Hapi in as "definites" - I hope that's OK!

I can take care of my own accomodation I guess something rather central would be appropriate*?
* minimising late night drunk walking, that is.

TC don't worry about researching hotels - I'm pretty sure I can manage for me.
Toybox - would it frighten you away if I suggested we stayed in the same one? (btw, I'm thinking: very inexpensive...)
We could probably help Gnomon out too. (unless he's staying Chez B'El or TC?)

It would be great if we could all stay in the same hotel.

I wouldn't be too frightened to stay in the same hotel as you (or, as Gnomon suggested, as any other Researcher)
But... inexpensive

The YH in Mannheim is right on the river. Probably accessible by bus.
If you choose your hotels yourselves, I can still go and suss them out for you (cleanliness, noisiness, friendliness etc)
